Don’t you just love the browns, creams, blues and tans in the Coffee Talk collection?  I had so much fun putting this 6.25″ square top fold card folio together!

Coffee Talk Birthday Card Folio Tips and Tricks

Here are some tips and tricks you can use in making this Coffee Talk Birthday Card Folio:

  • Stamp the coffee mug image onto light colored patterned paper from the Coffee Talk Paper Collection. .  This saves loads of time, as there is no need to color the image!  Let the Coffee Talk paper collection do all the heavy lifting for you.  I used ColorBox Decades Bon Voyage Blue Ink to stamp, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
  • Add inky details with Sponge Daubers.  This is another great time saver!  I sponged Broken China and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide inks to add some shading to my coffee mug.
  • Cut out the coffee mug with the matching coffee mug die.  Quick and easy!
  • Finally, layer up your background paper with a strip of striped paper and some die cut borders.
  • Mat the coffee cup on a white doily, then elevate with foam tabs or waste cardboard.
Coffee Talk Card Folio: Let’s Talk Flowers!

  • Stamp two sets of Botanical Rose on light colored patterned paper from the Coffee Talk Collection.  I stamped with the same Decades Bon Voyage Blue Ink.
  • Add Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink to the centers of each petal layer.  Use Sponge Daubers to make quick work of this process.
  • Now, Sponge the edges of the petals with Broken China Distress Oxide Ink, again using sponge daubers.
  • Next, cut out the flowers with the matching die from the Botanical Wings Die Set.
  • Spritz the flowers lightly with water, and again with Mountain Mist Glimmer Spray from Tattered Angels.
  • Now, shape the flowers using the two largest balls in the Flower Shaping Tool  Kit.
  • You can either gently heat dry the flowers, or let them air dry.
  • When the flower layers are dried, assemble with a glue gun.
  • Next, fill the flower centers with Art institute Dries Clear Glue and Expresso-yourself Prills.
  • Stamp the leaves onto the same patterned paper using Frayed Burlap Ink.  Die cut, and sponge with Peeled Paint and Frayed Burlap inks.  Shape.
  • Finally arrange the flowers on the card front.
  • Add a bow and button and the cut out birthday greeting.
  • Die cut the oval tag using the Luggage and Tag Die.  Tie to the mug handle with burlap string.

Heartfelt Creations Alumni Hop:  How Ya Bean?  Coffee Talk Card Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the December 2016 Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop!  I hope you are all enjoying the Christmas holidays with your families and friends!  If you have any last minute cards or gifts to make, this How Ya Bean?  Coffee Talk Card tutorial might come in handy!

Coffee Talk Card Tutorial by Kathy ClementI just love the Coffee Talk Collection!  It’s playful and whimsical and lots of fun to play with.  Here’s how I created this 5×7 top fold card.

How ya Bean?  Coffee Talk Card Tutorial

NOTE: I ink all my cut edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink

  1.  Create a 5×7 top fold card base from light blue cardstock.
  2.  Cut a 4 7/8″ x 6 7/8″ panel of the brown text paper from Coffee Talk paper collection.
  3.  Mat a 3.5″ x 5.75″ panel of coffee bean paper to light blue cardstock.  Mat a second time on navy cardstock
  4. Repeat this process using the decorative panel from the paper collection.
  5. Glue onto card base as seen in photo.
  6. Cut a 5″ x 2″ strip of designer paper from dark blue pattern and mat onto light blue cardstock.
  7. Create a belly band by die cutting 2 looped borders (HC Border Essentials Die) from Navy Cardstock.   Glue onto the back side of the prepared belly band.  Glue in place in the center of the card.
  8. Die cut the sentiment circle from the pre-made card fronts.  Glue onto a Spellbinder’s Lacy Circle Die.
  9. Use foam dimensionals to add the circle sentiment to the card, as seen above.
  10. Stamp Sun-Kissed Fleur onto light beige patterned designer paper.  Heat emboss with clear powder and die cut with Sun-Kissed Fleur Die.
  11. Sponge Weathered  Wood Distress Ink onto petals.
  12. Shape with Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit using large ball stylus.
  13. Glue layers together.  Add gumdrops to center of each flower.
  14. Spray with Mountain Mist Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.
  15. Glue in place as seen in photo.
  16. Tie a double loop bow with Blue Mixed Confetti Dots Grosgrain Ribbon.  Place a dot of hot glue under the flower petals and use the tip of your scissors to push the knot in place.
  17. Add Ivory Burlap String Bow.
  18. Tie a triple loop bow with Blue Topaz Taffeta Ribbon.  Glue in place.  Add button.
  19. Fussy Cut coffee cup from paper collection.  Attach with foam dot.  Add one small flower.
