Really Reasonable Ribbon April Blog Hop: Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy Family Love Trifold Folio

Hello, Ribbon Lovers! Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon April Blog Hop.  You should be coming here from Karen’s lovely blog. I decided to show off the gorgeous April Ribbon Club Assortment with this Family Love Trifold Folio.  It’s adorned with gorgeous ribbons from the Really Reasonable Ribbon April Ribbon Club Assortment and loads of pretty spring flowers.

The blue and ivory ribbons from the Ribbon Club Assortment were the perfect accent for this 5″ x 7″ folio made with Kaisercraft’s “Wandering Ivy” paper collection.

This poufy ribbon cluster uses both the 5/8″ Ivory Checkerboard Satin and Royal Blue Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbons.  These are both great ribbon selections if you are just learning how to tie a bow.  Both are soft, pliable and tie beautifully! I also used the Royal Blue Delicate Stitched Satin to create the ribbon closure for this folio.

Family Love Folio: Ribbons on the inside!

Ribbon plays a role inside this folio, too!  Here, I’ve used the crocheted lace from the Ribbon Club Assortment along with Ivory Burlap String to create sweet little tag toppers. This adds wonderful texture and vintage charm to the design.

These sweet little tags are part of the Wandering Ivy Collectables ephemera kit.

Flips, flaps pockets and interactive elements galore are tucked inside the cover.

I love this triple pocket page.  Crocheted lace is just the perfect accent for all these little tags and folios.

Add vintage buttons to the mix, and I’m in love!

Hello, Friends!  Happy Friday!  I’m back with another card that I made while I was on my “break” from design team assignments.  I made this Blooming Blue Bicycle Greeting Card with the Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy Collection  and ephemera pack as well.  But the “Blooming Bicycle” focal image is from Polly’s Paper Studio Etsy Shop. This one has a really fun, springtime vibe.

As you can see from this photo, I added loads of distressed layers, blossoms, ribbon and a vintage button to this 5″ x 7″ card.Blooming Blue Bicycle Greeting Card Wandering Ivy by Kathy Clement Product by Kaisercraft Photo 02

A cluster of Little Birdie Crafts Flowers add the “Bloom” to this Blooming Blue Bicycle card. The ones with beaded centers are “Jessica” ivory flowers.  The polka dot flower is called “Printed Florence Petals.”  I’m not sure where you can find these in stores, but you can visit the Little Birdie Crafts Website to find them.  These were given to me as a gift at CHA, and I just love them!

The bow cluster is more of that luscious Ivory Checkerboard Satin Ribbon combined with Ivory Burlap String and a vintage button from my stash.  If you’re new to tying bows, I really recommend this ribbon as it is very soft, making it easy to work with.

I decorated the gift card wallet with another digital image and scraps of the designer paper.  The “Wandering Ivy” collection kit comes with a sticker sheet, which I used to add the title.

Tea Lover Vintage Style Birthday Card with Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy

Hello, Friends!  Last week, I treated myself to a little “spring break” from design team assignments. Sometimes, I just need to play with no particular goal in mind. It recharges the old mojo and restores my love of paper.   Many of you know that I am a serious tea lover!  Every single day starts with at least 2 cups of steaming hot tea.  (Irish Breakfast, if you please with milk and honey!) This Tea Lover Vintage Style Birthday Card is just my cuppa!

Once again, I pulled out my Kaisercraft “Wandering Ivy” collection and the matching Collectables to make this card.  This time, I focused on the green and white patterns within the collection.  The card focal is a vintage style Gecko Galz digital download.  I just love this tea drinking lady in her stylish hat and flowery tea set.  I think I might enjoy a cuppa and a chat with her!

One of my favorite Saturday activities is going to yard sales.  I picked up this vintage style brooch for a quarter a while back, and I’ve been waiting for just the right project to use it.  To shabby it up, I painted the faux gold filigree with ivory chalk paint.  Then I used my button tool to cut the pin off the back.  To make sure it would sit level, I backed it with some squares of waste chipboard and then adhered it to the card.

This flower cluster is made with 3/8″ Ivory Satin Ribbon. The flowers are Little Birdie Crafts Jessica Ivory, Ocean Mist Bernice and Pollen Stems & Tendrils.  I’ve tucked a trio of my precious vintage buttons behind the flower cluster and a metal filigree leaf beneath it.

To add texture, and also to lighten up the composition, I altered a Little Birdie Circular Chipboard Lattice with Shabby Ivory Embossing Enamel.  This is tucked back behind the focal image.

Here’s a tip I think you will like.  See that border of clocks behind the brooch?  They are a sticker strip from the “Wandering Ivy” collection.  Guess what?  I cut them in half, since they are tucked behind the embossed woodgrain layer.  Now I can use the other half strip in another project.  It’s like having double the product to work with.  The final touch on the card front was adding in some rub ons from a Tim Holtz remnant rub sheet.

Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy Friendship Card

Hello, Friends!  Happy April!  March was such a busy month for me, that when I managed to meet all my deadlines I decided I deserved a treat!  So I pulled out a paper pack that’s been lurking in the Closet of Shame for months now, and let myself have 3 whole days to create exactly what I wanted to make! No assignments, no deadlines…just playing with paper for the pure pleasure of it!  This Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy Friendship Card is one of 4 projects that I managed to finish on my “break.” I’ll be sharing 3 of them here with you this week.

I dug deep into my shabby chic style while making this pretty card.  Distressed edges, painted metal embellishments, a fabby die cut frame and a bodacious bow cluster really amp up the shabby chic vibe of this 5″ x 7″ top fold card.

I just love the sentiment focal!  Since blue is my very favorite color, I just had to have this “Wandering Ivy” collection pack from Kaisercraft.  While I was shopping, the “Wandering Ivy Collectables” may or may not have fallen into my shopping basket.  (Ahem. )

Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy Friendship Card: Bringing the Shabby Chic!

Another great way to create a shabby chic vibe on a card is to add a die cut layer.  This Spellbinders Nestabilities “Laced with Love” die added a nice, airy layer on the card.

Paint metal embellishments with white chalk paint to add another layer of shabby chic to a card design.  Chalk paint is great to use because it goes on smooth, and does not need a primer.  It also dries with a flat finish.  I love that look!

Texture is also important in a shabby chic card.  And there’s no easier way to add it than with a bit of crocheted lace.  This snippet is just peeping out from under the card focal like the hem of a pretty petticoat.

Every shabby chic card needs a great bow cluster, in my opinion.  Ivory Checkerboard Satin Ribbon is so soft, and I love the texture that the subtle checkerboard pattern adds to the mix.  I topped the base bow with a 3/8″ wide Royal Blue Diamond Stitched Satin Bow.  Then I piled on White Magnolias, Blue English Roses, White Bead/Berry Clusters, and lots of little Sweetheart Blossoms.

This is one of my “two pocket” cards.  And just look at all those yummy shades of blue!

Put the scraps on your table to good use by adding a tag to your card pocket.  I had a 3″ x 6″ scrap of nice, sturdy white cardstock.  Turn it into a tag by rounding the corners with a Crop-A-Dile Corner Chomper.  To shape the top, I used my Scallop/Cloud Corner Chomper.  I use these Corner Chomper tools almost every time I craft.

Itty bitty scraps can be cut into banner flags, larger ones can be used as layers on your tag.  I even added a scrap to my honey stick to dress it up! The best part of it is, you have fewer scraps to clean up when you’re done creating!

It felt really good to create just for the fun of it.  Of course, I always have a good time whenever I get to play with paper, but not having a deadline or an assignment made it really special.  I did go ahead and load this card up in my Etsy shop in case you are interested.
