Prima Pumpkin and Spice Slimline Card

Hello, Friends!  I’m just popping in very quickly to share this quick and easy Prima Pumpkin and Spice Slimline Card.  I had a few spare minutes to play over the holiday weekend, so naturally I headed to the studio for a little free play time.

Don’t you want this pretty arrangement of pumpkins, sunflowers and lanterns on your fall table?  It’s just so cozy and welcoming!  The mix of traditional images with shabby chic hues is so much fun!

Simple Layers

Create simple layers on this 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ slimline card for the win!

  • First, cut an 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ copper cardstock layer for the background.
  • Next, cut an 8 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ layer of the floral pattern from Prima Pumpkin and Spice. Then stitch this to the copper cardstock layer.
  • Now fussy cut the image of the pumpkins from another sheet of Pumpkin and Spice.  Ink the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Then back with foam tape and adhere to the center of the card.  The foam tape will really make this layer pop.
Finishing Details

Adhere a Prima Sunflower vine along the base of the card.  Secure copper and cream plaid bows in the corners.  Top with burlap string and vintage metal buttons.  Spread a little Dries Clear Adhesive around the vine and sprinkle with Prills to add a little extra texture.

Now top the little chipboard charm with ribbon, acorn charm and metal wire.  Adhere this in the left corner of the card.  So cute!

A Peek Inside

Naturally, we need to tuck a Pumpkin Chai teabag and honey stick into the inside pocket!  A little journal card is a great place to write a cheery little note.

I’m so happy that the weather has cooled down a bit here in North Carolina.  The mornings have that delicious hint of fall…and I spied my first yellow leaf on my walk today.  Hooray for pumpkins and fall leaves!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweater Weather Box Card

Prima Pumpkin and Spice Sweater Weather Folio by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Prima Pumpkin and Spice Sweater Weather Box Card

Hello, Friends!  It’s a crisp, cool morning here in North Carolina….the perfect day to share this Prima Pumpkin and Spice Sweater Weather Box Card with you.   This 6″ x 7″ folio is all about texture and layers and cozy fall images. I find I am really loving the soft fall color palette in Prima’s Pumpkin and Spice collection.  Using pink and aqua in a fall collection is totally unexpected…but delightful! Come for a little stroll for me this morning as we talk about the details in this pretty folio.

Can you hear the leaves crunching under those pink wellies?  And smell the spices in the air? Autumn wreaths hang on every front door.  Squirrels chatter from the treetops as they frantically stash away acorns to get them through the cold winter months ahead.  A few brave fall blooms cling to rosebushes while vibrant leaves flutter down to the ground.  Oh, it’s a grand morning to be out for a walk!

Sweater Weather Inspiration

Naturally, the pink wellies were the inspiration for this card.  Don’t you want a pair?  I know I do!  First trim out the image from a 4″ x 6″ journal card. Then back it with foam dimensionals to make it pop off the page.

Now fussy cut the wreath from a 12×12 image page.  Use a craft knife to cut out the white center.  Then back it with clear cardstock and foam dimensionals to make a shaker element.  Fill it with Pumpkin and Spice Glitter Leaves and adhere it to the folio front.

Now comes the fun part: adding all the flowers, foliage and extra goodies.  These flowers are from Reneabouquets.  To give them the look of a fading fall bloom, brush the edges with a bit of Antique Gold Metallic Wax.  Brush this on the acorn and the star anise as well.  Sprinkle in some Prills to add extra texture.

Tuck a chipboard element up in the corner.  Then tie a loopy bow with Peach Seam Binding Ribbon.

TIP:  Add a touch of grunge to the ribbon by tapping it with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink before you tie the bow.

A Peek Inside

Add some pockets and punched borders inside the card, just for fun. This sunflower pocket is the perfect spot to tuck in a dressed up teabag.

The box pocket on the bottom has loads of room for all kinds of goodies.

I felt inspired to create a little vintage style magnet for this card.  Stitch on some crochet lace and add metal corners to amp up the vintage vibe.

I always feel like fall is over too soon. Our summers here in NC are long.  Fall is greatly anticipated and welcomed with open arms.  The cool, crisp weather is such a relief after so many weeks of heat and humidity.  I try to savor fall as long as possible, and making fall cards and folios is one of my favorite ways to enjoy it.  This card makes me want to cozy up in a big ole sweater and enjoy a cup of chai.  How about you?

Here’s a link to another Prima Pumpkin and Spice Folio that you might enjoy.

I hope I shared some tips, ideas and inspiration that you can use in your next crafty adventure.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
