Prima Fruit Paradise  Shaker Card for Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  Do you do this?  Say, “I’m not going to buy any more paper.”  Then you see a paper that speaks to something deep in your memory and brings you joy.  And then the paper falls into your shopping cart.  Yeah.  That.  But it’s all good, because now I have this Prima Fruit Paradise Shaker Card made with Really Reasonable Ribbon to share with you today.  See?  Things usually work out for the best when you listen to the little voice in your head!

Doesn’t this just look like summer on paper?  This 6″ x 6″ easel shaker card is adorned with Bright Pink Plaid Ribbon and a teeny tiny snippet of Hot Pink Satin with a metallic edge.  Gorgeous Fruit Paradise Papers, Flowers, Laserowe Love Chipboard and sparkly sequins add to the delicious fruit salad going on here.

Here’s a fun little embellishment you can make in a jiffy:

  • Find a paperclip.  This one is gold, but you could use pink or white and it would still look great.
  • Cut fishtail banner ends on a scrap of ribbon.  This one is about 2″ long.
  • Now loop the ribbon between the legs of the paper clip.  Add a dot of hot glue to hold it in place.
  • Then thread a wee vintage button and hot glue on top.

Cute, right?

The stopper on this card is the cascade of flowers.  I also tucked in the center from a crocheted doily to add more texture.  And Gold Metallic String adds just the right touch of shimmer to my bow cluster.

The inside is simple and sweet with just enough room to add a little note.  This is pretty enough to be used as table decor at a summer party.

Amazing Paper Grace Summer Berries Box Card

Amazing Paper Grace Guest Designer Spot: Stamperia Provence Summer Berries Box Card

Hello, Friends!  Aaaaah, summer!  Today’s Guest Designer Post for Amazing Paper Grace is a Summer Berries Box Card.  Made with Spellbinder’s  APG Vintage Treasures Cannetille Rectangle Dies and Stamperia Provence  and Lilac Flowers papers, it as sweet and refreshing as a bowl of summer berrries with whipped cream on top.

This box style card looks complicated, but the cover comes together in a snap, thanks to these wonderful dies!  Here’s how I made it:

  • First, cut a 12″ x 6″ panel of cream cardstock.
  • Next, score on the long side at 2 3/4″ , 5 1/2″ and 6.
  • Fold to form a little booklet with a 1/2″ spine on the left.
  • Then fold the front cover back at the 2 3/4″ score line.
  • Line all the panels with Stamperia Provence Paper.
  • Die cut the Cannetille Rectangle from Whip Cream Cardstock.
  • Now use just the outer frame of the die to cut out a panel of the Provence paper and adhere behind the die cut layers.  Leave the center open.

The floral cluster is made with a mix of purple flowers and berries that I had in my stash.  Tie it all together with some Elderberry Seam Binding Ribbon and a pretty little button.

Ooh la la!  Look at all the lovely papers tucked inside this pretty card!  I’ve created a box pocket to hold some lovely treats.  You can find a tutorial for that HERE.

Dress up the little gift packages inside the pocket with the center medallion from the Cannetille Rectangle Dies, a button and a half pearl.   You can write a note on the back of the journal card, too.  I’ve wrapped up a little package of British Tea Cream Cookies and a honey stick with papers from the collection.  Then I tucked in a color matched tea bag and one of my precious vintage Italian Demitasse spoons to complete the gift package. This is such a pretty way to present a gift.

I’m having such fun playing with these Vintage Treasures Dies!  They fit my style to a “T”.  Did I share some tips, tricks and ideas that you can use in your own crafty adventures today?  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Authentique Felicity Zig Zag Folio Tutorial

Authentique Felicity Zig Zag Folio Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Are you having a great summer?  It’s been super busy here in Kathy World.  But I did manage to steal a play day last week.  I’ve had this idea for a new folio design rolling around in my head.  It just would not leave me alone, so I had to get it made.  This Authentique Zig Zag Folio Tutorial is the fruit of my playtime.  Filled with gorgeous summer colors and images, it also has a really cool sloped edge design.

This 4″ x 7″ folio has a cardstock base that is made with a few simple folds.  It looks more complicated to make than it is.  I think once you make one of these, you’ll want to make bunches of them in different themes.  One cool feature is that you can actually open it out and stand it up for display.  Wouldn’t that be fun done in a Christmas theme?

The belly band closure is decorated with Really Reasonable Ribbon , Little Birdie Flowers, some Prima Embellies and a novelty button from my stash.  I stitched designer paper to cardstock to form the belly band.  Velcro dots hold it closed.

This tag rests on the front cover and is held in place by the belly band.  The illustration on the cover is actually a little 3.25″ x 4.25″ trifold photo wallet.  For me, these folios are all about the interactive elements!

I designed the folio so that both sides can be used.  This gives you a total of 10 panels with lots of options for flaps, pocket, tips ins and photo display.

This is just the 3 middle panels on the reverse side.  As you can see, I managed to fit in a a waterfall feature.  That makes lots of room for photos!

Because I thought you might want to try to make one of these little dittys, I created a tutorial showing you how to build the base, create the sloped edge, and add the pockets and flaps.  You’ll see a video tour of the folio first.  I hope you enjoy.

I thought about calling this a ski slope folio, or a shaped edge folio…but in the end I settled on zig zag because of the way it looks when folded.  If you have a better idea for a name, please let me know!

I hope I shared some tips and tricks that you can use in your own crafty adventures.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio Project Share

Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio Project Share

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  I got it in my head to create a new style of folio the other day, and I’m so excited to share it with you here.  This Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio is the perfect place to showcase your family reunion photos, vacation photos or just everyday summer fun photos.

Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio by Kathy Clement Photo 01

The base of this 6.75″ x 7.25″ folio is made with 12″ x 18″ black cardstock.  I’ve layered it up with vibrant papers from Authentique’s “Cheerful” Collection Kit.   Really Reasonable Ribbon 5/8″ Black Plaid Ribbon lends a country chic vibe to these cheery papers.

These black vintage buttons make me so happy!  I found them last summer while vacationing in Maine.  As we were driving along the back roads, we spotted an old fashioned flea market.  You know the kind where they set up plywood on top of sawhorses in an old dirt lot.  Those are always the best!  I found 3 antique canning jars filled to the brim with vintage buttons for $5 apiece!  You can bet that I snatched those buttons up in a hot minute, then did my happy dance all the way to the car!

The images in this collection are so very sweet.  This small sticker image could easily have disappeared  in the design of this large folio cover.  That’s why I framed it with this altered chipboard frame and filled it with Prills.

Authentique Cheerful Summer Picnic Folio: A peek inside

The interior of this folio is so much fun!

I figured out how to add a 4.25″ x 6.25″ pull out page on the top half.   This has a ribbon tie closure, as well as magnets between the cover pages to help keep it closed.

Then I built a box style pocket on the bottom half of the folio.  The base is Graphic 45’s Alpha Banner Tags.  To cover the tags, I used my Graphic 45 Regular Tag and Gears Die.  I am in love with these new dies and can’t seem to stop using them!

The tags are topped with more plaid ribbon and prettied up with this Sheer Red Cherry Print OrganzaBlack Burlap String makes everything pop.

I used my table scraps to create this little gift card wallet.  Red vintage buttons on a vintage button card make a sweet tuck in surprise.

We All Scream for Ice Cream

We All Scream for Ice Cream for RRR Sizzlin’ Summer Colors Challenge

RRRChallengeBadgeHello, Friends!  Remember this little chant from your childhood?  I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! I can remember jumping rope to this little ditty, throwing it in at the end of counting for hide and seek, and shouting it while my friends and I played on the swings.  It is one of those magical phrases that takes me right back to the sunny, carefree summer days of childhood.  And since the newest challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon is Sizzlin’ Summer Colors, I found myself grinning and reciting these playful words while making this ice cream themed card.

IcWe All Scream for Ice Cream Birthday Card by Kathy Clement Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness for Petaloo International Summer Fun 01I combined several ribbons from the June Ribbon Club Assortment with the fresh images and sizzlin’ summer colors of Simple Stories Sunshine & Happiness paper collection.  Don’t these colors remind you of cool refreshing sherbet, Creamsicles and ice cold popsicles?  Quick, somebody bring me my flip-flops and a hula hoop!

We All Scream for Ice Cream Ice Cream Birthday Card by Kathy Clement Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness for Petaloo International Summer Fun 02After stitching several panels of the paper onto white cardstock, I layered them up with foam dimensionals.  Then, I created a super pouftacular triple layer bow with Maize Taffeta, Tangerine Checkerboard Satin and Citrus Sheer Dots Ribbon and topped it off with a hot pink button from my stash.

We All Scream for Ice Cream Ice Cream Birthday Card by Kathy Clement Simple Stories Sunshine and Happiness for Petaloo International Summer Fun 03Blackberries are my favorite summer fruit , so I added in this totes adorbs  fuchsia flowering berry pick from Petaloo.  I curled the stems around the end of my craft pick to add some fun texture to the arrangement.

On the inside of this 5″ x7″ top fold card, I created a little pocket and decorated it with more fun ice cream elements from the paper collection.  There’s a little journaling card in the pocket so that a personal note can be added to the card.
