You’ve Been Booed:  Halloween Treat Tags with Halloween Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  You’ve been BOOED!  Which is a very good thing in our part of the world.  This fun trend involves leaving a Halloween treat on a neighbor’s doorstep, ringing the doorbell and running away.  A note inside says, “You’ve Been Booed!” and encourages the recipient to pay it forward to someone else in the neighborhood.  The treat can be anything from a card, to a bottle of wine, to a sweet treat.  But I thought these frightfully fabulous Halloween Treat Tags would be perfect for the occasion.

You’ve Been Booed: Creating the Tag Base

For each tag base you will need to do the following:

  • First, cut a 4″ x 8 1/2″ panel of heavy, 110# black cardstock.
  • Then cut (2) 3 7/8″ x 8 3/8″ panels of patterned paper.
  • Now, pull out some corner shaping dies and crop the top corners.
  • Next, place the long side of the tag on your scoring tool.  Score at 6″ and again at 6 1/2″.
  • Then, line the tag front and back with the patterned paper.  Score each side at 6″ and 6 1/2″ again after you add each layer.
  • Now. old the bottom of the tag up to form a pocket.
  • Next, cut (2) 1″ x 1 1/2″ scraps of black cardstock.  Score at 1/2″ and again at 3/4″.  Fold to form little tabs that will fit inside the pocket and form sides.  Adhere.
  • Finally, wrap the bottom edge of the pocket with 1/4″ Scor-Tape and wrap with Halloween Ribbon.
You’ve Been Booed: Adding the Details

Decorate your pocket with handmade rosettes, Halloween Charms and stickers.  I’ve used Authentique’s Twilight Collection to make my tags.  Then, fill the pockets with treats that any grown up ghoul or goblin would enjoy.

I’ve added some Biscoff cookies, candy corn, a tea wallet, honey stick, vintage spoon and chocolate to my tag pockets.

You’ve Been Booed: A Little Upcycled Card

This wee card is attached to a clothing tag that I salvaged from my husband’s cargo shorts.  The main tag measured about 3″ x 4″ and had a nice shape.  Two smaller tags were attached with jute cord.  Clearly, they were too nice to throw away.  So I painted them with black chalk paint and turned them into a vehicle for this wee card.

There’s room inside for a little ghoulish greeting.  The small tags are dressed up with paper scraps and stickers.

You’ve Been Booed:  The Ribbon Topper

The thing that really makes this tag spooktacular is the ribbon topper.  These all come from the Really Reasonable Ribbon September Ribbon Club Assortment.  Simply punch a hole at the top of each tag, thread the ribbons and the jute string on the upcycled tags through the hole.  Don’t fold the ribbons in half; just pull them through and tie them together with another bit of ribbon.  Tie a bow, add some fall leaves and a flower, and you’ve got a fabulous tag!

Here’s a look at the other tag I made.

Don’t take this the wrong way…but I hope YOU get BOOED this Halloween!

Button Farm Club Trick or Treat Tag Box Kit with Authentique Twilight Collection

Hello, Friends!  Are you ready for the big reveal of my latest Button Farm Club Kit?  This Trick or Treat Tag Box Kit is frightfully fabulous!  I brewed up a magical potion that conjured up a Halloween home decor, photo album, treat tag project that is absolutely bewitching!

Every time I look at this project, I grin from ear to ear!  This 4 1/2″ drawer holds 6 dimensional treat tags that double as little photo folios.  The witch legs just slay me!

All four sides of this Button Farm Club Trick or Treat Tag Box Kit are ready to party, making it the perfect centerpiece for your Halloween display.

The classic black, orange and cream color palette matches last year’s Button Farm Club Halloween project, too.  So if you have that one, this is a great companion piece.

The treat tags are decorated front and back as well.  I love a project that can be changed up!  And just look at those fabulous brass feet on the box!

Button Farm Club Trick or Treat Tag Box Kit: The Treat Tags

There are 6 treat tags tucked inside our Boo-tiful Halloween box.  As you can see, each tag is rich in detail and filled with fun!  (This is just a sneaky peek at 3 of the tags.)

And you can’t have a Trick or treat tag without a little candy, right?  The dimensional pocket on each tag holds an individual packet of candy corn…my favorite Halloween treat!

Button Farm Club Trick or Treat Tag Box Kit: The Techniques

Not only is this kit too cute to spook, it is filled with wonderful techniques that you can carry over into your other crafty adventures.  Here are just a few of the fun techniques that you’ll learn in this kit:

  • Cover a Graphic 45 Tag with or without a die.
  • How to create marvelous paper layers.
  • Make a dimensional box style pocket.
  • Create handmade rosettes without a die!
  • How to work with ribbons to create a fabulous ribbon cluster
  • Turn a tag into a mini photo album.

Yes, the back side of each tag is actually a miniature 3 1/2″ x 6″ photo album.

This is the perfect spot for preserving photos of your favorite little Ghouls and Goblins!  You’ll have room for 12 photos.

This short video tour will show you all the wonderful features of this kit.

Button Farm Club Trick or Treat Tag Box Kit: What’s in the Kit?

By now you know I like to load up my projects with fun embellishments.  And you will get everything you need to recreate this great project in the kit.  One of the reasons I decided to release these kits through the Button Farm Club is the fact that they love to pack their kits full to the brim with creative goodies. I honestly don’t think you could purchase the individual elements for the price Laura charges…plus you get the printed tutorial written by me.  This is a venture I am really proud to be part of!

Each Trick or Treat Tag Box Kit contains:

  • A beautifully crafted  4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ wooden drawer with a metal drawer pull.
  • A full set of vintage style brass feet with the necessary hardware to attach them
  • (8) 12″ x 12″ sheets of Authentique Paper’s Spooktacular Twilight Collection
  • (1) 12″ x 12″ sticker sheet with heavy weight cardstock stickers
  • (2) 12″ x 12″ sheets of color matched Spectrum Cardstock for creating the folios
  • Graphic 45 Large Black Tag Album with 6 tags
  • Ribbon Assortment (6 different ribbon styles!)
  • One dozen witch legs in assorted colors
  • 3 silver tone Jack-o-Lantern charms
  • 3 silver tone haunted house charms
  • 1 large spiderweb/witch/cauldron charm
  • 1 package of Little Birdie Halloween chipboard
  • 6 individual packets of candy corn
  • 6 miniature wooden clothespins
  • Full color, printed step by step tutorial created exclusively for The Button Farm Club

*Note: We recommend that you purchase the Graphic 45 Large Tag die to make quick work of covering each tag.  This can be purchased at The Button Farm Club.  However, the tutorial has directions for covering the tag even if you don’t have the die.

From your own stash, you will need to add: adhesive, scoring tool, ruler, paper trimmer, standard hole punch, corner rounder punch (if you are covering the tags by hand…if you have the die, you will not need this tool), and something to add color to your chipboard pieces.  It can be ink, paint, markers or even crayons…whatever you have on hand!

This is a limited edition kit, so place your order before they all vanish into thin air!  You can get your kit HERE.  The price is $62.99.

There are still a few of my other BFC kits in stock, as well as written tutorials for the retired projects.  To see what you might have missed, you can look HERE.

It’s always an honor to create these tutorial kits for you.  So many of you have asked me to travel to you to do classes…and this is the next best thing!  Thanks so much for your friendship and support!  I appreciate you more than words can say!

Cover a G45 Ivory Square Tag quickly and easily by using the Square Tag and Clock Die to cut the liner.  I’ve actually used 3 separate dies here.  In addition to the Square Tag Die, I created a peek a boo layer with a Tim Holtz Mixed Media 2 Die.  The pretty laurel wreath die is a favorite from Spellbinders.   Light Blue Sheer Organza Ribbon with a Satin Center is topped with Silver Metallic String and a cameo button from my stash.  And Little Birdie Flowers (from AC Moore Crafts) add the perfect finishing touch.

Romantic Valentine Shaker Tags

Romantic Valentine Shaker Tags with Authentique Romance

Hello, Friends!  Happy Saturday!  I thought I’d pop in very quickly and share these romantic Valentine Shaker Tags with you today.  With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s always good to have a little love inspiration on board.

Romantic Valentine Shaker Tags by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 01

The romance collection is just perfectly “mushy” for Valentine’s Day.   The base of each tag is  Graphic 45 Regular Kraft Tag.  Just die cut the liners with the G45 Regular Tag die, then add the decorative layers.  Since these come together so quickly,  I thought it would be fun to make a little set of romantic tags….and then I thought…”Why not add a shaker?”  So I did!

Romantic Valentine Shaker Tags by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 02

Each little shaker pouch is stitched onto a square white doily.  I sew almost all the way around the pouch, fill it with sequins, then put it back on the sewing machine to finish stitching.  It’s the easiest way I’ve found to make a shaker element.  I also die cut a wreath from gold metallic paper.  The image is from the Romance Components Sheet.  Top this off with a Geranium Pink Taffeta Bow and some sweet Little Birdie Flowers.

Flip the tag over to find a ribbon tied sweet surprise.
