Tea for Two Heartfelt Creations Magnolias Tutorial for Wonderful Wednesday May 2024

Hello, Friends!  Would you like to join me as I share this Tea for Two Heartfelt Creations Magnolias Tutorial?  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and time to share our May 2024 Flower of the Month, so grab a cuppa and a snack and we’ll dive right in!

New Tea for Two Collection from Country Craft Creations in the House!

It seems like every time I do a little clean up in the Closet of Inspiration and Delight I give myself a stern reprimand about not buying any more paper until I’ve used up some of what I have. Inevitably, right at that same time someone will release a paper collection that causes my resolve to completely wilt.  That’s what  happened when Country Craft Creations released Tea for Two earlier this month.  One look at the gorgeous tea cups featured on this card had me placing the order as fast as my crafty little fingers could type it in.  (Is there a 12-step program for paper addiction somewhere?)

The truth of the matter is, I’m not the least big sad I added this collection to the stash.  As you will see in the video tutorial below, it’s completely scrumptious!

The Shaker Element

Here’s how I created the shaker element on this 5″ x 7″ top fold card:

  • First, cut out the 4″ x 6″ image of the stacked teacups.
  • Next, use a ruler and craft knife to cut the inside section of the image out of the frame.
  • Then fussy cut the teacups, back with chipboard and foam tape, and set aside.
  • Now, adhere a 4″ x 6″ panel of clear cardstock (acetate sheet) to the back of the empty frame.
  • Place 2 rows of 1/8″ foam strips around the back of the frame.
  • Mat a 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ panel of patterned paper on larger mats of rose and teal cardstock.  Place sequins and beads in the center of the panel, then press the prepared shaker frame into the center of the panel.
  • Finally, adhere the teacups over the shaker window and proceed with finishing the card.

Add more patterned papers and a pocket to the card interior.  I used my envelope punch board to create a little tea wallet, then added that to the pocket along with a dressed up honey stick and a lovely little notecard.

Magnolias are already blooming here in North Carolina.  They add beauty and fragrance to these early summer days.  If you’d like to view another tutorial that uses a different style of magnolia bloom, you can find that tutorial HERE.

Ciao Bella Morning in Provence Birthday Card Tutorial of the Month May 2024

Hello, Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and this Ciao Bella Morning in Provence Birthday Card Tutorial of the Month is our project for this week.  I’ve never been to Provence, but working with these lovely papers is almost as good as being there.  Everything about this collection is feminine, shabby chic and full of peaceful, relaxing colors, patterns and images.  I like it so much that I’ve decided to use the collection in my September card kit for Button Farm Club.

Easier Than You Think

Are you familiar with that old saying: “Yard by yard life is hard, but inch by inch it’s a cinch.”?  The basic design here is very simple and straightforward. You will see that in the video tutorial.  It’s the embellishments and layers that take it to the next level.

Lovely butterflies, flowers, beads and beautiful board from Reneabouquets add interesting details. We will add these elements one at a time in the video tutorial.  I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to  learn that this card is easier to make than you might think. Yes, there is a lot going on in this card.  But none of it is hard to do.

A Peek Inside

Birthdays offer lots of opportunity for capturing great memories with photographs.  So I decided to build a little photo folio inside this card.  This turns the card into a real keepsake that can be enjoyed for years to come.

And if there is a birthday, you have to have a few presents!  So I created a sweet little bookmark, magnet and journal card to tuck into the pretty pocket.

TIP:  Cut a panel of paper to fit the inside of your card.  Then trim a piece from the bottom to line the pocket face.  This allows you to enjoy the entire image, and makes an almost hidden pocket design.  Try it!

Sand Sun Surf Beach Banner Tutorial

Sand Sun Surf Beach Banner Tutorial with Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday, and I have a Sand Sun Surf Beach Banner Tutorial to share with you!  it’s made with some of my favorite Really Reasonable Ribbon trims and flowers, Graphic 45 The Beach is Calling, and Reneabouquets Paper Pretties.

Graphic 45 The Beach is Calling-Banner-Really Reasonable Ribbon-Reneabouquets-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

This is a great big banner with 8 pennants in 3 different styles and sizes.  I’ve stitched them onto a Silky Crushed Satin Navy Ribbon with a Navy Stitched Burlap Ribbon Topper.  I think this is my favorite banner so far this year with its sandcastles, beach huts, paddle boards and starfish!

I always follow this sequence when making my banners:

  • First, die cut the individual pennants or tag liners.
  • Next, machine stitch around the edges of each pennant to make a sort of “frame” for the collage.
  • Then, evenly space the pennants along the length of your ribbon.  Use binder clips to hold the pennants in place.
  • Now, top the pennants with lace or a contrasting ribbon.
  • Finally, stitch the pennants to the ribbons.  Stitch a second time along the bottom edge of the ribbon to ensure that the banner lays flat when on display.
  • Now all  you have to do is decorate your banner.

Several of you have asked me if you have to stitch the pennants to the ribbon.  No, you don’t.  You can attach with Fabric-Tac or iron on interfacing.  Or, simply attach your pennants with cute clothespins.

Shaking it Up Down by the Seashore

The central pennant is a G45 Kraft Tag topped with a fun shaker frame.  Reneabouquets Butterflies, Laser Cut Starfish and Tiny Shells help to dress things up.

Beach Flowers

The corner pennants on each end feature Blue/Gold/Ivory Plaid Ribbon Bows topped with Gold Metallic String Bows and lots of pretty mulberry flowers.

Busy Bees Tag of the Month Tutorial May 2024

Graphic 45-Let it Bee-Spellbinders Vignette Watering Can-Reneabouquets Bees-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Busy Bees Tag of the Month Tutorial for May 2024 with G45 Let it Bee

Hello, Friends!  It’s only fitting that this Busy Bees Tag of the Month Tutorial is our project for May 2024!  Between baby showers, softball games, Button Farm projects, getting the garden in and just every day life, I feel like I’m as busy as a bee!  But it’s all good fun, and my heart is filled with joy.  With Mother’s Day on the horizon, I wanted to create a tag that could double as a gift.  I think you are going to enjoy seeing this whimsical creation come together.

Even Busy Bees Stop to Smell the Flowers

We’re going big today with a Tim Holtz Medium Etcetera Tag.  These 1/4″ thick tags measure 6 1/2″ x 12″, so there’s lots of room for adding lovely details.  I’ve dressed my tag up with Graphic 45 “Let it Bee” papers. Then I created a meadow full of cone flowers with Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace Vignette Watering Can Dies. Reneabouquets Lemon Blossom Bees decided to join the party, too.  Of course, I found  way to add some vintage buttons from my stash to the design.

You’ll learn how to create the cute posies and the adorable watering can in the tutorial below.

Busy Bee Tea Party in a Box

You know what’s extra nice about these tags?  You can use the back side to create a lovely tea party in a box for mom!

The goodies include a darling little bookmark, note card with a fun surprise inside, Biscoff cookies, Lemon and Ginger Tea Bag, honey stick and a sweet vintage silver plate spoon.

This would be so cute as part of  your kitchen decor.  When the treats have been enjoyed, why not store recipe cards in the spacious box pocket?

Stamperia Brocante Tag Mini Album Tutorial

Stamperia Brocante Tag Mini Album Tutorial-Wonderful Wednesday-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Stamperia Brocante Tag Mini Album Tutorial for Wonderful Wednesday Tag of the Month

Hello, Friends!  Today’s Stamperia Brocante Tag Mini Album Tutorial is our Wonderful Wednesday Tag of the Month.  In case you missed my announcement last week, I will no longer be doing Make & Take Tuesday or Throwback Thursday videos on a regular basis.  Instead, we have initiated Wonderful Wednesday tutorials.  We will continue our Tag of the Month, Banner of the Month, Birthday Card of the Month and Flower of the month tutorials in this new schedule.  This way, I can enjoy weekend activities with our grandchildren.  It’s a change I’m very excited about!

Stamperia Brocante: An Antique Shop on Paper

If you’re a fan of “junkin'” or “picking” at flea markets, antique shops and thrift stores, I think you’re really going to enjoy this new collection from Stamperia.  It’s just like visiting an antique shop on paper.  Filled with images of old silverware, china, teacups, teddy bears, pocket watches, cameras and millinery, it’s a treasure hunter’s delight.

I wanted to create a sense of joyful adventure right from the start, so I “antiqued” a resin frame with paints, mists and wax.  Then I turned it into a shaker element filled with old keys, pearls, beads and sequins.  Should I dress up the cover with an antique silver spoon?  Why, yes!  I think I should!   What a fun way to begin this crafty adventure.

Flip Down Tag Album

Tags make me happy.  They are versatile and lend themselves to all kinds of crafty ideas.  For this tag mini album, I wanted to create a really fun binding system that opened in an unexpected way.  Hence the spine on the bottom design of this flip down album.  There are some fun surprises on the inside, too, as you will see in the video tutorial below.

Did you enjoy that?  I certainly enjoyed creating it!
