Little Birdie Crafts Celebrate Life Pocket Folio Tutorial
Hello, Friends! This Little Birdie Celebrate Life Pocket Folio Tutorial reminds me of some Robert Louis Stevenson lines that I memorized as a child. He penned, “The world is so full of a number of things, I’m sure we should all be as happy as kings.” This lovely poem from “A Child’s Garden of Verses“, is a good one to remember any time, but especially during these trying times. I remind myself daily to be thankful for all the wonders that surround me. Take time to listen to the sounds of the birds. Watch the bumblebees drink deeply from the blossoms in the garden. And yes, take time to smell the flowers! You’ll be happier if you do! I promise!
Let’s Celebrate Life
This little 6″ x 6″ folio is made with (4) 12″ x 6″ panels of white cardstock. First, lay the panels out side by side. Then overlap the edges about 1/4″ and join together with your adhesive of choice. Next, score this long panel every 6″. You will have a little flap on the right hand side once this is done. This will become the folio spine. Simply accordion fold, place adhesive to create inner pockets and voila! Learn how to do this in the tutorial below.
Layer Little Birdie Primed Chipboard with flowers and fussy cuts from the Celebrate Life Paper Pad, and you’ll have a lovely window garden that blooms all year round!
A ribbon closure holds everything together neat and tidy! These little folios are quick and easy to create. This makes them perfect for birthday, anniversary, new baby, graduation, Christmas or any special occasion when you wish to give a gift from the heart. Just change out your papers to adapt to the event.
A Peek Inside
Peek inside the folio to find lots of room for photos and journaling.
The folio design provides a lovely hidden pocket to hold this large photo folio. Adhere just the bottom edge of a punch out doily from the 12″ x 12″ collection and you’ve got a handy tuck spot for these tags and journal cards.
The insert has room for 4 larger photos.
Use the Dream Cut machine and Thin Tag Dies to create layered journal tags. Join these together with jump rings. Then decorate with a bit of gold string, Pearl Pink Paula flowers and charms from your stash.
The format of the second page mirrors the first.
Keeping the basic design the same makes for quick and easy crafting.

What a gorgeous folio, Kathy! It looks like a little secret garden on the front. I do love your theme of taking “time” to appreciate all the beauty that is around us. The inside of your folio is so sweet with the flowers and tea set motifs, and the little journal tags are just lovely. Thank you for sharing this beauty! Hugs!

l learn sooooo much watching your tutorials. Maybe I will try a folio one day.. would love to take a class with you but your videos are so informative and inspirational. For one thing, I will never look at small scraps of design paper the same way. So many beautiful touches I can see them used for. Your cards are a bright spot in my day. Don’t know how you do it each day but thank you!!
Kathy, you are so right…during these times, we need to celebrate the gift that is life. Summer is a great time for seeing so many of the reasons why…and that’s what your project captures so well. So much color, so much for which to be thankful–the birds, the flowers…even the cup of tea! Let’s celebrate the gift of crafting, too. tfs-stay well. Hugs.
