Ciao Bella Timeless Moments Banner Tutorial
Hello, Friends! Our Wonderful Wednesday project for this week is a shabby chic Ciao Bella Timeless Moments Banner Tutorial. We’ve been making a monthly banner for quite some time now, and I wanted to change things up a bit. And after looking up the definition of a banner online, I found that pretty much any kind of art that can hang or be attached to a pole qualifies as a banner. That gave me the freedom to create this large 14″ x 15″ tea themed home decor piece.
After digging around in my basket of vintage doilies, I found a beautiful old lace-edged table scarf that was perfect for the shabby chic/vintage vibe I was going for.
A Creative Stretch
Do you ever get tired of making the same old thing over and over again? It can make us feel a little “stale” or bored with our creative endeavors, can’t it?
While I love making cards and folios, sometimes I just need to creatively stretch myself. Do something outside the box or try something new. To paraphrase a famous quote from Star Trek: “go boldly where this crafter has never gone before.” And that is precisely what I did with this project.
As a cardmaker, I’m used to working with a much smaller canvas. Using this table scarf forced me to “think bigger” . It was so much fun to have all this real estate to develop. Suddenly, I could add layers of lace, torn papers, lots of Reneabouquets beautiful board and a really BIG focal image.
If you haven’t taken on a creative challenge lately, I highly recommend it! You’ll feel a little bit nervous (I did!) but at the end of the process, you’ll feel refreshed and happy.
The Big Picture
The main issue I had with this project occurred when it came time to photograph it! I tried hanging it in half a dozen different places, but the lighting was all wrong. (Since it was raining cats and dogs, the outdoors was not a good option.)
I finally settled on a door knob in my studio and suspended the banner from a Melissa Francis shabby chic hanger that I’d been hoarding for a long time. If I could transport you into my studio to see this in real life, I would, because it is soooo much prettier than what I was able to capture in the photos. You’ll just have to take my word for it.

Love this type of banner! Just beautiful! The lace and torn papers make it so shabby chic. Thank you for the inspiring words and sharing your creativity.
