Ciao Bella Cozy Moments Altered Christmas Tag Tutorial with Spellbinders & Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  Our first Christmas in July project is this Ciao Bella Cozy Moments Altered Christmas Tag Tutorial.  If you are a fan of interactive tags, then I think you are going to enjoy seeing how this one comes together.  I invited some goodies from Reneabouquets and Spellbinders Paper Arts to the play along with us today.  So grab a cuppa and a snack, and let’s take a look at the July Tag of the Month.

Spellbinders Wax Seal and Clear Stamp and Die of the Month

When I received my Spellbinders Wax Seal and Stamp/Die of the Month, I fairly shouted for joy!  It was the perfect addition to the neutral tones of Ciao Bella’s Cozy Moments Collection.  Here’s how I used them on this tag project.

  • First, select 4 of the pearlized white wax beads from the WSOM kit.  I like to melt my wax beads with my heat gun instead of on the little burner that most people use.  With all the paper in my studio, I try to avoid open flame in here!  I’ve found that the inner cardboard ring from a washi tape roll makes a great “corral” for the beads and keeps them from rolling all over my work area.  Since I place them on my silicone media mat, I am not worried about making a mess.
  • Once the wax has been melted and sealed with the design, let it cool for a minute or two.  Then highlight the design with a gold painty pen.
  • While the wax seal is cooling, you can stamp and emboss your sentiment.  I like to stamp in black archival ink, then immediately dust with gold embossing powder.  It seems to me that the black makes the gold show up better.
  • Finally, die cut the sentiments using the dies from the club kit.  Back with foam tape or tabs and attach to the project.
Tags, Tags and More Tags!

You’ll find tags at every turn in this month’s tag tutorial.  The base of the project is a G45 Large Kraft Tag.  Then I created a gate fold element with 2 Regular Kraft Tags.  This fold around the sides of the base tag.  Run ribbon through the grommet and tie a bow as the closure.  The pocket on the bottom of the tag is another folded Regular Kraft Tag.  Dress up a 3 1/2″ x 7″ piece of cardstock with patterned papers and images from the collection and slide it behind the gatefold where it sits nicely in the pocket.

You can add a nice sentiment panel on the back of this tag.

The Flip Side

The back side of the tag features a little flap element made with the other part of the kraft tags.  Fun, right?  These stay in place thanks to a magnetic closure.

Dress the cover up with some printed holiday beautiful board and laser cut pine corners from Reneabouquets.  (Supplies are linked below this post.)

Tell me your reaction to this paper collection.  I loved it right away because of the soft neutral hues and botanical theme.  It’s not traditional Christmas, but it does make up into a lovely Christmas gift.

The pocket on the flip side is the domed edge of the kraft tag.

This gives us a spot to tuck in a pretty bookmark and a little tea wallet.

You mentioned you aren’t getting a lot of post. I am not signed up with YT so they don’t let me leave you a message. I am not sure they even count my thumbs up. They are making it harder to use anything but Apple applications. I will try on my phone even though I am to that knowledgeable on the phone. All that said your projects are always magnificent and I learn new things. You also pick GREAT papers and embellishments for your projects and cards. Thank you Kathy for being a wonderful teacher. You can post this on YT if they let you.

I am going to have to add a box of peppercorns to the shopping list! It is the textures and range of elements that you have co ordinated with the papers that makes this project truly unique. The interactive construction is bang on with so much to see and touch as one explores this months tag. Love it Kathy, thank you for sharing the process along with your humour and aaaah no moments in the video. It must be hard to part with your creations, whomever receives this treasure will have a big smile this year!

Beautiful Tag and love the Christmas music! I am getting ready to order the paper collection. Will you be using any of this collection for the rest of this month’s tutorials? Can’t wait to see what you are making for Christmas in July. Thank you!

Kathy, This interactive tag is just fabulous! Who knew so much wonderfulness could come in a tag! I like the non traditional Christmas colors, so soft and pretty. And the little kids and deer are just too sweet. Thank you for sharing! Hugs!

Love the use of this non traditional Christmas paper for this tag! The addition of texture on the tag is a great idea as well as the peppercorns and cheesecloth. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
