Daisies and Bees Altered Box with Tutorial

Stamperia Daisies and Bees Altered Box with Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  It’s another Wonderful Wednesday and I have a darling Daisies and Bees Altered Box to share with you.  Whilst rummaging around in the Closet of Inspiration, I found a neat little wooden box that my sister had passed along to me.  The minute I touched it, I just knew that I was going to dress it up with paint, stencils, Reneabouquets Beautiful Board and papers from Stamperia Daisy Art.

Box Altering Tips and Tricks

What a glorious, messy, creative process that was!  My box measures 5″ x 5 1/2″ x 4″ with the lid closed.  I did not do a tutorial for the box, as everyone’s box will be a different size.  But here are a few tips:

TIPS:

  • First, find a tiny screwdriver and remove the latch and the hinges, then paint the box.  I used Stamperia Aqua Pearl Patina Matte Paint for this.  Set the box aside and let it dry.
  • Next, measure the box, inside and out, and cut papers to fit.  Adhere all the papers at the same time.
  • Now, add texture with Ranger Grit Paste and a stencil.  I chose a simple script motif.
  • Then, layer on your embellishments.  This is always the fun part!  use foam tape to add depth and dimension on the top of the box.  Mustard seeds (from spice aisle of your local grocery store) provide a fun natural feel.
  • Finally, re-attach the metal hardware you removed in the first step.  Then screw in some decorative box feet for the perfect finishing touch.

Junk Journal in a Box

Once you’ve finished with the outside of the box, you can fill the interior.  The box would provide great decorative storage for buttons, metal charms, spools of thread or ephemera.  I decided to create a stack of tags and mini folios to go inside my box.

In case you want to create these same tags and folios, I’ve provided a video tutorial for those elements.

Delightful, just delightful and the button closure technique is definitely going into the book of hints from Kathy! I do love g45 tags as they work in so many designs. Thanks for sharing Kathy, as I always enjoy the Thursday morning videos. It is cold here this morning, winter is on its way. The first stage of renovation is nearly done, just painting by us and the demolition inside begins 7th of June. I can see myself retreating to the art space to stay sane, but it will be worth it in the end I keep telling myself. Cooking in the partly open bbq area is going to be a challenge too, but we can always wear more clothes to beat the cold, or maybe dine out a bit more, that sounds like a good excuse to avoid domestic chores!

I like how you have decorated the box and then filled the inside with the tags and folios. This box would make a great gift! Thank you for sharing.
