Deer Christmas Greeting Card with Sweet Christmas

Deer Christmas Greeting Card with Stamperia Sweet Christmas

Hello, Friends!

Wow, has this week ever been busy!  I finally got caught up on life after my lovely Thanksgiving break.  Once all the chores were done, I had a chance to play with some of my new paper pretties.  This Deer Christmas Greeting card has a wonderful Victorian feel to it.  It’s made with Stamperia’s Sweet Christmas collection.

A little light distressing on the edges gave this card an aged, rustic feel.  All the edges are sponged with Distress Victorian Velvet ink to amp up the color.  Then I spritzed the edges with water.  Finally, I spattered the whole base (not the image) with Hickory Smoke Distress Spray.

Need a good way to use up scraps of pretty paper?  Cut a banner shape on the end then add them to your paper layers.  To do this, first I fold my paper in half lengthwise.  From the folded side of the paper, cut a 45 degree angle toward the bottom edge.  These fishtail banners look great on a card, use up scraps and are quick and easy to make.

Deer Christmas: Pretty in Pink

Festive greenery gives this card a botanical feel.  I’ve layered lots of evergreen boughs in with my White Glitz Ribbon bow cluster.

For me, decorating the inside of a card is as much fun as decorating the outside.

Otherwise, it would not be a Kathy by Design card!   If you’re interested, you’ll find this card available for purchase in my Etsy shop.

It was relaxing and fun to make a card “just for me” . I love the way it turned out, and I hope it inspired you to get out your paper pretties and have a play.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,

kathy

This is my new favorite, Kathy! I would never think of pink for Christmas, but this sure works for me and then some! You really know how to pick some beautiful papers and then whip up some magic with your scissors and glue! Wow! I really love the tip on cutting the banners, and will try to remember to add some to my cards. I checked your shop and didn’t see this … did it sell already??? Sad face! Sending you big hugs!

Wonderful card. I would be like Christmas morning opening a gift up when this comes in the mail. I like using different colours now for this time of year and am going to try doing blues and white. Those are cold colours sometimes and rightly so for this time of year, however it’s pouring rain out there right now. 🙂 It is going to be a “hit or miss” weekend with the weather. When you see the sun, run out and go for a quick walk as the rains will follow pretty fast, usually as soon as I get all geared up and open that door. lol
Thanks for sharing such a lovely card Kathy, your truly are an inspiration to us all.

Gorgeous Kathy, simply gorgeous. So glad you enjoyed your family Thanksgiving, now onto Christmas. The deer is just adorable and I love the vintage feel you’ve created in soft links and greens. Thank you for the tip on cutting banners, mine always seem to look unmatched. One of those where you try and take a bit more of and end up with nothing moments. Carolxx

    Hi, Kathy,
Normally, I stick with traditional red & green color schemes on my Christmas cards but this card certainly invites me to rethink that choice. This card is so gorgeous!!! The Victorian imagery and rustic touches gives one pause to take in all the exquisite details. Thank you for this beautiful gift to start my day!
    Love & blessings, Sandy
