Frilly Funkie By the Sea

Frilly Funkie By the Sea Challenge

Hello, Friends!  It’s time for another challenge over on the Frilly & Funkie Blog, and this go round, I get to be the hostess.  Hooray!  Since I’ve not had time to take a real vacation this year, I keep taking little virtual getaways by creating beach themed projects.  It’s like the old long distance commercials from so many years ago: it’s the next best thing to being there!  So I’ve created this By the Sea Altered ATC box that is loaded with vintage goodness and a beachy color palette.  But before I share it with you, here’s the details on this By the Sea Challenge:

It’s summertime, and our minds turn toward the shore where we find sparkling sands, delicate shells and refreshing breezes.  Let’s take a virtual beach trip by creating any kind of vintage or shabby chic project that features a nautical or beach theme and color palette.

By the Sea with Prima French Riviera and Graphic 45

By the Sea Altered Graphic 45 ATC Book Box by Kathy Clement for Frilly and Funkie By the Sea Challenge, Product by Prima French Riviera and Graphic 45 Photo 2Ooh la la!  I love these beachy blues!  The box base is a Graphic 45 ATC Box.  After texturing the Prima French Riviera papers with a woodgrain embossing folder, I glued them onto the sides of the box.  Next, I coated them with Distress Vintage Vintage Collage Medium and smudged them with Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky Distress Paint.  All the edges were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I distressed a Graphic 45 Staples Shabby Chic Door Plate to add to the front of the box.  And, you’ll see one of the Graphic 45 Ornate Keys as well. Then I tied all those shades of blue together with some gorgeous Petaloo Penny Lane flowers.

By the Sea on YouTube

Rather than load a ton of pictures into the post, I’ve prepared a very short, 2 minute YouTube video so you can see all the fun details.  I hope you enjoy!

I hope you’ll join in on this fun challenge by  linking up your own By the Sea themed vintage or shabby chic project over at the Frilly & Funkie BLOG.  The design team will ask the designer of their favorite project to take a Guest Designer spot on the Frilly & Funkie Blog.  Three other designers will be awarded badges to display on their blogs and everyone who follows the challenge guidelines will be entered into a draw for a $25 shopping spree at the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

To get inspired, why not hop on over to the Frilly Funkie BLOG to see what the rest of the Frilly team have prepared for you.  And next week, the Funkie side of the team will share their take on the theme as well.

You have until midnight on Tuesday, August 9th to play along.  I can’t wait to see what you make!

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,

kathy

Holy cow Kathy, this might be my favourite seaside project EVER!!! I am so hypnotized, I can’t look away! This is a piece of buried treasure that should be in a glass box in some museum somewhere! All the little elements you have included, wow. Layers and layers of seaside papers and patina trinkets, real shells and beautiful green moss! I can’t get enough of this one! And just when you think you’ve seen everything…IT OPENS!! Bravo my friend!! sending hugs 🙂

So much vintage awesomeness (new word) to look at. Love the textures, the tag book and the embellishments. The inside did turn out to be as yummy as I hoped.

Oh, how I love this one!!! It’s just so much fun and chock full of goodness. Thanks for the inspiration and fun look via YouTube and loved the music. It’s very reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac. Showing my age again. LOL
