Gentle Asters Canvas

Here’s my finished Gentle Asters canvas.  My tutorial is stamping on patterned paper, and the details are below.

chacb sept 1 challenge 01This 8×10 canvas has been covered with the garden collage from the Digital Garden papers collection.  I printed it on canvas paper, then colored it with distress inks and Spectrum Noir Markers.  The beautiful garden girl is one of 16 images found on the Digital Vintage Flowers Printable Sheet.  I printed these papers from the Vintage Halloween Jumbo Download onto smooth 80 pound paper.  I find it holds up well to stamping, but it die cuts well.

Craft HoardersCS Linky 05I generally run the heat gun lightly over these papers once they have been printed, and then I can ink them, distress them, stamp them, color on them, and they do not run.  In this instance, stamped my Delicate Asters with Versamark ink, then covered the stamped images with Copper Embossing Powder. The result was rather stunning.

Craft HoardersCS Linky 06After die cutting my flowers and leaves with the matching die, I shaped them with my Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and molding mat.  I layered them together, alternating the dark and light papers and staggering the petals.  I used white glue to hold the layers in place. The centers were filled with Citrus Flower Soft.  While they were drying, I was inspired to write a poem!  Go figure!  I jotted it down quickly and then used my PaintShop Pro software to add it to the beautiful Garden Memories frame.  Then I just printed it!  Easy, Peasy!  Before I inked and colored the frame, I traced over the lettering using a Versamark pen and then heat embossed with clear powder.  This kept the printed poem from smudging while I inked and colored the frame. Then I tapped the entire frame with Versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it a sort of aged, leathery look and feel.

What a work of art Kathy. This is my all time favourite of your creations. I enjoyed all the different angled photos as there were new treasures to find in each shot. The tutorial was very informative as well. I rarely stamp on printed paper and there is no good reason why, it gave the flowers exactly the kind of colour variation you find in nature. You also did a great job on the Heartwarming blog. Thanks for all you do.
