Going Round in Circles with Halloween in Wonderland for Frilly and Funkie
Hello Friends! It’s time for another wonderful challenge at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. This time around the lovely Sue is our hostess and she has set the theme Going Round in Circles. Here’s what she has to say about this challenge:
Challenge Theme: Going round in circles – Including circles in my projects is one of my favourite things to do, so for this challenge I want to see circles, lots of circles, not just one ! Stencilled, stamped or even a circular project such as a wreath !
Circular elements really do add a lot of visual interest to a project. With Halloween peeking around the corner, I pulled out my Graphic 45 Deluxe Collector’s Edition of Halloween in Wonderland and started going round in circles!
Let’s see how many different ways I’m Going Round in Circles
- The focal image is a circle
- Circular frame around the focal miage
- Background paper and ribbon both have polka dots
- My embossed background has a circular motif
- White Rabbit’s pocket watch is a circle
- The 2 O’s in BOO are both circular
- Spiderwebs in the black ribbon have a circular shape.
Yes, indeed…I think this card is definitely going round in circles!
Fun with Grit Paste
The most fun I had in making this card was adding the stenciled background. I don’t have a lot of stencils, but I found this one from Dreamweaver’s in my stash. Since I had just procured some Distress Grit paste, I was anxious to have a play with it.
I added some Aged Purple Embossing Powder to the grit paste while it was still wet, and then heat embossed it to create a spooky Halloween sky. Then I die cut gold glitter paper using Tim’s Crescent Moon and Stars die .
A Peek Inside
I added a pocket and ephemera card to the inside. Plenty of room here to write a little note or tuck in a Halloween treat.
Now it’s YOUR turn! Create your own vintage or shabby chic project that follows the theme Going Round in Circles and link it up on the Frilly and Funkie Blog before midnight on Tuesday, October 4th.
The team will choose their top four picks with the winner being invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at Frilly and Funkie and the next three will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and follows the rules will be entered into the draw to have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
I can’t wait to see what you make!
Thanks for stopping by!

That is one fun Halloween card! Everything fits together perfectly and I’m glad to see one of my favorite characters The Cheshire Cat! Thanks, Kathy, for the inspiration.

Another beauty by Kathy. Love the Halloween colour palette and the wonderful focal image with the chipboard frame. The ribbons are so much fun and the textured background gives the card such depth.
Hugs!

Sweet, beautiful and fun! What a treat!
Kathy, what a gorgeous and festive Halloween card! I particularly love seeing that textured layer in there! How do you like the Grit paste? I was thinking of getting it, but not sure if I couldn’t concoct my own–tee hee! You have definitely been hitting the circles–I found allof yours listed and then some-keyholes, eyes, brads, “O”s, flower center, flowers in the inside, and I’m sure many more! Well done, you! Hugs!
This is adorable and it’s good to see you getting a jump on your Halloween cards! I’m always behind these days but the yard work is almost over! Halloween cards are next on my list!
