Graphic 45 Farmhouse Double Gatefold Card: Use Your Scraps!
Hello, Friends! Today’s Graphic 45 Farmhouse Double Gatefold Card is a great way to use up your scraps. Earlier this month I created a Farmhouse Folio Kit for The Button Farm Club. The lovely extra bits and bobs from that project kept calling my name. So I finally found a minute to put them to good use on this country fresh creation.
This card base measures 4 1/2″ x 7″ when closed, but opens to more than 12″ wide. Here’s how to create the card base.
- First, cut a 13″ x 7″ panel of 18pt grocery bag cardstock. (Link below)
- Next, score along the long side as follows, 2 1/8″, 2 1/8″, 4 1/2″, 2 1/8″
- Now accordion fold so that the 2 1/8″ flaps meet in the middle.
- Then cut 1 7/8″ x 6 7/8″ panels from your scraps to cover the small panels front and back.
- Create a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel and adhere half of it to the center of the card. Decorate this with cut apart images, die cuts and small border strips from your scraps.
- Embellish with Tim Holtz Tiny Clips, a brass bulldog clip, Little Birdie Flowers, a big ole’ wood button, ribbon and twine.
Graphic 45 Farmhouse Double Gatefold Card: The Grand Opening
Opening this style of card is really fun, because the panels fold out to reveal all the goodies inside.
You can see that I adhered the large “Blessed” cut apart on the left to the back side of the front panel.
Decorate a couple of ATC tags to tuck into the pocket along with a large ephemera tag.
Graphic 45 Farmhouse Double Gatefold Card: The Back Gate
Add a pocket on the back side of this card. Then fill with another ephemera card and a little chocolate treat.
This card is so cute, you can set it out as part of your kitchen decor. It’s also a great way to present a gift card.
I hope I shared some tips and tricks you can use in your next crafty adventure! If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy

I missed this one being posted. Got discharged from the hospital yesterday from my 24 hour covid pneumonia hospitalization, so am glad I saw it here on your site! I really like this Farmhouse collection too.
You’ve demonstrated this most interesting paper collection. for some reason, I can’t quite convince myself to purchase this G45 paper collection. Maybe I’m a bit too “suburban” in style to be comfortable with cows! MOO! Still, I did enjoy seeing this card. Thanks for posting!
This is such a great vintage farm looking card! And you did it with scraps again! Whether it’s a regular card, a folio, or as in this case a double gatefold …whatever it is …it’s always amazing! Thanks Kathy for sharing another awesome creation! Hugs, Suzy Q
Kathy! OMG, I LOVE this card. It’s so unique and beautiful. As you know, I am quite partial to your creations that have that country, farm life feel to them . Your wooden button is so perfect and contrasts so beautifully with that plaid background. And what wonderfulness on the inside! Once again you have created a masterpiece with your bits and bobs! Thank you for sharing! Hugs!
Such a great design, Kathy. This unique fold gives so many ways to use various sized scraps. This farm set is delightful — seems to work so well for this card layout. I’m playing with scraps these days so I know this design will come in handy…thanks for the tutorial, too. Hugs-stay well.
Oh Kathy! I love this card! It’s definitely farm fresh but with a slight primitive vibe. I love that gorgeous bow and flower cluster too!!! This card and all of your cards are truly beautiful!!! Take care my sweet friend!!!
Hi, Kathy,
I love gate fold cards! With all the little nooks and crannies you’ve designed, I’m grateful you provided the directions on how to create this card format.
Blessings, Sandy
Love everything about this!
Oh you know I love my chickens! One day I would like to have some. In some communities you are allowed to have 5 hens only. No roosters of course. Great card Kathy!!!
Kathy, love this Farmhouse card. I think I will make it for my sister-in-law. I did try to find the link for the 18pt grocery bag CS – no luck.
Thanks for always giving sizes, etc.
Take care
You never cease to surprise and amaze me. This is one impressive card. Recipient will definitely cherish and keep!
I’ve ordered some chipboard and will soon start that crafty adventure and tackle my first card in the KC style! Looking at paper now. Thanks for the inspiration.
What a beautiful and unique card. Love your design and you always have a new idea to throw into the mix. This would definitely be a keeper if you gave to someone. I’ll be trying this one soon. Thank you for sharing!
Loving this one Kathy. I didn’t seem to see the link for the 18pt grocery bag cardstock though. I just never heard of any paper/cardstock being 13″. You really do cover the entire base of your cards! They are “all” special for sure. Be safe & TYFS
