Graphic 45 Sun Kissed Card Folio
Hello, Friends! How about a little trip to the beach? We can walk barefoot in the sand, search for shells and play in the waves all day! Sound good? While I might not be able to take you to a real beach, this Graphic 45 Sun Kissed Card Folio is almost as good as playing in the sun, surf and sand!
It’s impossible to feel gloomy in the presence of such vibrant colors and happy images. This is a 5″ x 7″ top fold card base. I’ve transformed it into a folio by adding a 1/2″ spine and some fun surprises inside.
If you are intimidated at the thought of making a mini album, you might want to think about creating a card folio instead. You can easily complete one in half a day, and for a fraction of the cost. Limited storage? Folios are perfect for that, too, as they take up so much less room. Need a unique gift? Folios are the perfect card/gift combo. So, yeah…I’m pretty much addicted to making them!
Rosettes make me think of beach umbrellas, so I had to make a few for this card using my Tim Holtz rosette dies. Then I used Tim’s Sand and Sea Bigz Die to cut images from patterned paper as well. The great thing about making your own paper embellishments is that they will always be a perfect color match!
To add extra dimension, die cut some chipboard or cardboard to back your seahorse die. This not only strengthens the die cut, but it really makes the image pop off the page.
Take a Peek Inside this Graphic 45 Sun Kissed Card Folio
The inside of a card folio is more fun than visiting the boardwalk at the beach!
This flap page was scored and folded to create a fun little pocket. Fill the pocket with journal tags and an ephemera card. You can also add extra photos here.
Flip the flap over, and what do you find? This fun waterfall gives you loads of room for photos.
Use another ephemera card underneath to write down your favorite vacation memories, names, dates and places.
Add a mini folio to the pocket and you’ve got room for more photos and journaling. The cover for this mini folio is the back side of one of the beautiful ephemera cards from the Sun Kissed collection. The large ephemera card on the top half of the card is the perfect spot to tell your story.
Decorate the inside with another image from the collection, and then fill the pocket with small ephemera cards and photos. You could even make this folio as a family craft activity while on vacation. There’s always a rainy day at the beach, and this would be such a fun way to take advantage of being together.
The great news is that Sun Kissed is now available for purchase! Oh the paper pretties you can make with this glorious collection!
I hope I’ve shared some ideas, tips and tricks that you can use in your own crafty adventures. If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.
Thanks for stopping by!

Oh yes please. Take me to the beach kathy away from the freezing cold weather we are having at the moment. Your card is beautiful and as usual the inside is so inviting too. Loving the gorgeous blue colour, coupled with yellow and sand make your folio a wonderful creation. Xx
Kathy, I loved this Graphic 45 set when you first used it–love it even more with your great folio here. I have some friends who love the shore/beach so I’ll have to create something along these lines for them (just not quite this elaborate). This folio is awesome. tfs
Oh, dear! Just lost another LONG spontaneous comment! You have amazed me once again with your numerous ways to add more to a card/folio! Every time I think you have done it all, you come up with a new way to add an interactive element to your work! The papers are fabulous and you have showcased them beautifully with your signature creative layers, die cuts, flap, flips, pockets, and imaginative details! Just gorgeous, my friend! Sending warm, damp, windy hugs from Wilmington!
Your cards bring sunshine to my days all the time, but now is especially nice as we are still in rain and fog and rain and fog and cold!
Thank you for sharing this lovely day at the beach Kathy!!!! Great job, as usual. Oh and the rosettes do remind me of umbrellas!
I enjoy your creations so much… but I am part of that silent group that rarely comments. I had to take a moment on this one because it has inspired me to use another G45 beach themed collection I acquired specifically to make something for my oldest grandgirl and have never quite managed it. These folios are a great idea. Just enough to commemorate an event beautifully & thoughtfully without the lengthy build time of an album. Thanks so much for bringing them to my attention!
I love this card and the beach….your cards always inspire me
Goodness, this is not only beautiful but so inspiring! Appreciate ALL of your craftiness…am so happy my sister recommended your site! Thanks for sharing!!!
Welcome aboard, Gerri! I’m so glad you were inspired by this project! That just makes my day! Tell your sister I said thanks for sharing! Looking forward to taking lots of crafty adventures with you here! xo
Just amazing!
Wow, those colours scream hot sun, rolling waves, warm sandy beaches and SUMMERTIME! A beautiful folio for summer memories, Kathy. Love it!
Love this summer card, wish I was at a beach LOL
