Halloween in Wonderland Candy Corn Folio

Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland Candy Corn Folio with Video Tour

Hello, G45’ers!  Quick!  What’s your favorite Halloween candy?  Mine is candy corn…and I think the Mad Hatter from Halloween in Wonderland loves it, too.  How do I know?  Well, just take a look at the expression on his face on the cover of this Halloween in Wonderland Candy Corn Folio.

This image just tickles me!  Doesn’t it look like the Mad Hatter is running for that box of candy corn on the cover?  Hehehe!

Do you see what the Mad Hatter is holding in his hand?  How cool is that?  He even has candy corn striped socks, for heaven’s sake!

Halloween In Wonderland Candy Corn Folio: Hatching the Plan

I had it in mind to create a Halloween folio with a shaker cover.  But then I was grocery shopping and found the candy corn display.  Instantly, I started thinking of a way to make a folio with a candy corn container on the cover.

I tried all sorts of things, but finally found the plastic packaging from some Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Hinge Clips fit the bill perfectly.  First, i  thoroughly washed and dried the packaging. Then I filled the inner cavity with candy corn, and covered it with the plastic cover.  Then I slid designer paper into the back of the packaging grooves.  Next, I added a fussy cut image from Graphic 45’s Halloween in Wonderland DCE.  The final step was clipping it to the front of my folio with a beribboned binder clip.   To secure it even more, I added removable glue dots to the package backing.  How fun is that?

Halloween in Wonderland Candy Corn Folio: The Details

This is a 7.75″ x 5.75″ folio with a heavy black cardstock base.

It has a 3.4″ spine and a ribbon tie closure.  Designing the base was quick and easy.  It took a better part of a day to build the dimensional cover and the interactive features found within.

Flips, Fold, Pockets and Tags!

You know I  love to add interactive elements to my creations.  The first one I added here was the fold out page/hidden tag pocket on the right.

First, I created the 5.75″ x 5.5″ fold out page.  It actually measures 6.25″ wide, but the 1/2″ flap is glued behind another page, so you don’t see it.  I added a fun shaped edge to the left hand side.  Then, I left one side of the photo mount unattached so I could slip this decorated square Staples Tag behind it.  As a bonus, the rounded edge of the tag makes a great page turner!

Adding a belly band to a photo mount allows you to slide the photo behind it along with any other cute elements.  More is more, right?

The flip side reveals another photo mount/belly band duo with more whimsical images from the collection.

A Double Waterfall Feature

The centerpiece of this Halloween in Wonderland Candy Corn Folio is the double waterfall feature.   Double the fun!  Each page has room for a journaling spot and a 3″ x 3″ photo.

These label elements from the collection make great pockets!  I matted stickers on black cardstock and tucked them in.  Of course, you still have room for photos.  And you can add a line of journaling on each label.

These images are glued so that photos can slip behind.  I matted the large sticker on black cardstock to make it pop off the background paper.  It’s another great journaling spot.

ATC Tags!

The box style pocket on the left holds several ATC tags.  These were quick and easy to make.  I started with a handful of black Graphic 45 Staples ATC Alpha Banners.  The printed background on these means you don’t have to spend time adding patterned paper.  Then, I just fussy cut these images from the cut apart page and glued them down.  Add a wisp of ribbon and BAM!  Almost instant tag.

My thought for these is that they’d be a great spot for photo booth style pictures.  Or, they’d be wonderful place cards at your Halloween Tea.  You could even use them for invitations!
