Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland Fun Flip Folio

Hello, Friends!  I love it when September rolls around, because I can start sharing spooktacular projects like this Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland Fun Flip Folio with you.  This is probably my all time favorite Halloween collection from G45, and I never get tired of working with it.

This time, I challenged myself to make an 8″ x 8″ folio base with just one sheet of 12″ x 18″ paper.  I guess this technically isn’t a folio, because it has 2 pages.  But the spine is actually scored right into the cover of the folio, making for a neat design.  I think I’m going to work this one up into a Button Farm Club kit someday soon.  It’s such a fun design!

The cover is a single layer of the signature sheet from the Deluxe Collector’s Edition.  This is stitched onto a couple of layers of cardstock, then adhered onto the folio base.  Next, I fussy cut a second Alice from another signature page.  Punch a hole for the handle of her spooky broomstick, thread the broomstick through, add dimensionals to the back and layer over the “flat” image.

Add dimension to the cover with your embellishments.  And a little mixed media mayhem, too.  I’ve been doing a little purging in the studio, so I’m finding lots of fun things I forgot I had.  See the doorknob on this folio?  That’s an old G45 Staples knob from their original release of metal embellishments many moons ago.  This thing is about 1 3/4″ in diameter.  I took it to the Mixed Media Day Spa for a beauty treatment with  Black Chalk Paint, Seth Apter’s Patina Oxide Baked Texture, Stamperia Gold Dew Glamour Gel and some Ranger Rusty Hinge Distress Paint.

Alter Little Birdie Flowers with Prima Copper Crackle Texture Paste, Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and Copper Penny Prills.  I even removed some of the flower centers and replaced them with vintage buttons.

The ribbon is Really Reasonable Ribbon Silky Crush Navy and Black Houndstooth.  Both go so well with this collection.

Here’s a peek inside the album.  Cut apart the image panels from the designer paper to make pockets, titles and focal images.  To cover the corners where the fussy cut images meet, create smaller pockets, or add a sticker.

The 4″ x 6″ images in the collection are great when used for cover art on mini folios.  This flip folio has a  magnetic closure and room for 5 photos inside.

The focal image of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on the first page is actually a cleverly disguised flip page with a magnetic closure.  Turn it to reveal lots of fun spots for photos and journaling.

There are flaps to lift, and tip ins to turn, and journal cards tucked into pockets…all the things I love the most!

Each page unit is actually a pocket with a 7 1/2″ square pull out photo mount.  How fun is that?

The images in this collection are large, so I had to look for ways to make them work. These large tip in pages feature some of the fun scenes from the story line.

Open them to reveal two large flap pages and two side pockets with photo mount inserts.  Those drawer fronts make great pockets!

The final page features a large pull out, a shallow pocket and a side pocket with insert.

This pull out is 6 1/4″ wide x 12″ tall so you can fit LOTS of photos here!

And I love a good pull out feature, so I added one to the pocket.

To help you get a feel for the flow and function of this playful folio, I’ve created a short YouTube video tour.

Creating these folios is my idea of fun!  I don’t have a tutorial for this one, but I will either create a tutorial for the base and sell it in my ETSY shop, or use it for an upcoming Button Farm Kit because I think y’all would really enjoy making it, too.  Please let me know if you are interested in the comment section below.
