Happy Blogiversary Number Four and a Giveaway

Happy Blogiversary Number Four…and a Giveaway!

Hello Friends!  I know I’ve been kind of absent this week, but I’ve been busy getting samples ready for CHA in Phoenix (next week) and have hardly had time to come up for air.  All of a sudden today, I realized…this week marks my 4th anniversary on the Kathy by Design blog.  So this is a special Happy Blogiversary Number 4 blog post and a giveaway!  Woo hoo!

I don’t have a fancy project to share with you today…just my humble thanks for being on this journey with me.  I started blogging with the goal of sharing my adventures in paper crafting with anyone who was willing to listen.  LOL  I had no idea how to set up a blog, and had never written a blog post in my life.  So it thrills and amazes me to see that there were people “out there” who would share my passion for paper.

Now, four years down the road, 675 of you have graced me with your company on the journey.  I’ve published over 800 posts!  And, my blog has had close to 300,000 visitors.  9,560 of you have left me lovely comments to cheer me along the way.  I am so blessed and humbled.  I just wanted to say thank you and share a little love with you.

Happy Blogiversary #4 Giveaway WEEK ONE

I decided it would be fun to host a giveaway each week for the next four weeks.  Sound good to you?  So for my Week One Happy Blogiversary Nujmber Four giveaway, I’m offering these fabulous  Waterfall One, Waterfall Two and Pinked Posies dies from Tammy Tutterow.

Many of you know that I have the honor of designing for Tammy.  I had purchased these dies before I joined the team and as much as I love them (and I really, really do love them!) I don’t need two sets of them in my stash.  So I thought I would share the love with you.

Here’s How to Enter

To be eligible to win:

  1.  You MUST be a follower of my blog.  To join, just click on the e-mail sign up form in the top right corner of my side bar.
  2. Answer this question in the comment section below:  What do you like best and what do you like least about my blog?
  3. You must be a resident of the US or Canada.  (I just can’t afford the international postage….I’m sorry!)

I’ll keep the week one giveaway open until 5PM EST on Thursday, January 19th.  I’ll announce the winner AND the week 2 giveaway on Friday, January 20th.

If you’re already a follower, please let me know.  I’d love it if you chose to follow me on the following venues as well:

That’s it!  Thanks again for being a companion on the journey!  I am having the best time.  I never expected to make so many wonderful friends all around the world.  You add so much joy to my life!

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,

kathy

Hi Kathy! I just signed up to follow you by email but I have been following your blog for a while with Feedly. I am also following you on Facebook and Pinterest now. What I like best about your blog is your vintage style. I am a total fan of anything vintage and you do it so well! What I like least about your blog is nothing! – It’s great – keep up the good work! Happy 4th Blogaversary!

  4. Vicki R

Happy 4th Blogoversary, Kathy! Such a lovely, heartwarming blog post. I love your self made header that highlights your own work. Your creations are always so inspiring! I think what I like least is that there aren’t more posts to follow! Happy that you are part of the blogosphere…I am following you everywhere that I am able!

    Kathy,

What do I like best about your blog…YOU, of course. There is also that special connection as you are from my “neck of the woods”. 🙂

Please continue what you are doing, always enjoy your posts whether on FB or blogs.

Hi Kathy, I found your blog through a friend who knew how much I love vintage designs and told me to come check you out! It’s hard to believe that you have been blogging for only 4 years because you’re such a pro at photographing your beautiful projects and explaining the different steps. I love seeing the way that you incorporate ribbon and flowers into so many of your cards, and hope to learn how to combine patterned papers as well as you do. Thank you for the giveaway. Those dies look really intriguing!

Oh, I’m so happy you found my blog! I really appreciate your kind words of encouragement. I have worked really, really hard for the past four years learning how to take photos (still learning…it’s the hardest part of what i do, actually) learning how to write tutorials, and always on the look out for learning new techniques. I love to share what I learn with my followers. I’m looking forward to getting to know you better! Thanks so much!

Hi Kathy. Happy 4th. Just discovered your blog through the Ribbon Hop and subscribed. I don’t see anything I don’t like and lots of beautiful ideas – looking forward to browsing through your posts. I have also subscribed on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Looking forward to lots of inspiration.

    Hi Kathy,
congratulations on your 4th blog Anniversary.
This is very kind of you to offer such a wonderful givaway.
I just love visiting your blog and seeing what you have created, and I get so very much inspiration from your wonderful work and posts.
This year in August it will be my 5th blog Anniversary so I will have to do something special for that myself.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Congratulations!!!! Four years! That’s awesome! Your other statistics are amazing too! Wow! I’ve been following for a few years although I don’t comment much! I remember when you designed for Crafty Secrets and I subscribed back then! What I like most about your blog is your tutorials and your vintage style and how you layer things together so beautifully! What I like least is that the email subscription doesn’t provide a thumbnail of your project. When I see a thumbnail, I immediately have to click-through to get a closer look and get all the details. So I have to confess that sometimes I don’t click through because I’m in a rush and I can’t see what the project is from the email. Not sure if you have any control over what shows up in the email subscription but thought I would mention it. I always click through to see your tutorials though – your work is so detailed and beautiful and I’m always left with my mouth gaping open! Congratulations on your success – you deserve it! Wishing you many more years of blogging and crafting fun! Can’t wait to see what you make next!

I love that you are always posting fun and informational posts with lots of creativity! I really cant think of anything I don’t like so we will have to leave that one open/
Bring on the inspiration and fun!! Thanks for being YOU!

  11. Jeanne Kelly

Hi Kathy! Happy blogiversary! I’ve been a follower for a couple of years. I really love your style and creativity. I also like it when I hear back from you too. I don’t really have any dislikes, so let’s just say I would like more posts….

  12. Sue LD

Happy 4th anniversary. I enjoy your blog posts very much and your creations are always fabulous. Can’t think of anything I don’t like.

  13. Helen

Congratulations on your anniversary. Glad I found your blog this year because I so enjoy your card designs. They give me so many ideas. The only thing I find to be a problem on your sight is the “SiteLock” that shows up in the bottom right-hand corner of your blog page when I open it. It is just next to my scroll up and down bar so that–more often than not–it opens when I’m trying to scroll down using the arrow. Just a technical thing–everything else about your blog is wonderful. Thanks for your generous sharing .

  14. Carol

Happy 4th birthday Kathy. I’m not sure how long I’ve followed your blog for, all I know is I enjoy it. I love your enthusiasm, inspiration and your storytelling. You have produced some wonderful projects. Just carry on as you are doing. I know you can’t post to the UK but wouldn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate you. Hugsxx

  15. Anne H.

Congrats on 4 very successful years my friend!! How fortunate for me that we “met” as DT members after I had already been a huge admirer!! What I LOVE about your blog is your absolutely always never-disappoint projects. I find myself gasping at them and I just don’t know how you do it. What I like least is … thinking… thinking… that it’s virtual! I would love to meet you in person some day (maybe at a future CHA??) and hug you IRL!! Blog-on my friend — you are truly gifted. Blessings!

  16. Nikki C

    Happy 4th Birthday 🙂

Kathy – I LOVE your “stuff”! Just my style! (vintage) . . . you have no idea how much paper and ink I’ve gone thru, printing out your projects that I want to try! Happy anniversary to you and your blog . . . isn’t it fun? . . . .I, too, find it VERY rewarding . . . and love the inspiration I get from you! Your photos are fantastic, and your instructions easy to follow. I follow you on Facebook, and watch you on Pinterest . . .am an old lady and not quite “into” all the other technology!! 🙂

    Thank you!! Janice (bellacosavintage)

Hi, Janice! Wow…you really made my day with this lovely comment! It just means so much to me to know that my work is inspiring others in the crafting community. 20. Pattie Jns

WOW! Kathy, Happy 4th. I haven’t followed you that long, but sure glad I found your blog, and friendship, I really appreciate the detailed instructions, and videos, that you take the time to teach us how your wonderful creations are done. I am a visual learner. I don’t belong to all those social media’s , like twitter etc. I would look at the youtube. for the videos. A busy lady, you are, but so thoughtful answering our comments……have a good day…..an more to come I am sure…..hugs.

  21. karenladd

I still remember one of the first times I saw a project from you and was just awe-struck! Your designs are always unique, with perfect workmanship and a wonderful vintage flair. You never fail to inspire me and I love to hear about your process. I love EVERYTHING about your blog and can’t think of a single thing I don’t care for. Already following by email and will also follow on FB and instagram.

  22. shartl

Happy Blogiversary to you! I always love seeing your beautiful projects on the blog and only hope to be as talented some day. I am not sure if I subscribe by email or not but I tried to sign up and got an error notice. I’ll keep trying, but in the meantime I follow you on FB and on WordPress already. I like the tutorials the best, and there isn’t anything that I like least! (except that your wonderful cards always make me feel kind of intimidated…lol!)

  23. NCguygirl

Congrats on your 4th anniversary! I’m jealous of you getting to go to CHA… it always sounds like so much fun! I always like seeing your blog in my inbox, tho I don’t get over here near often enough to tell you so. I love your style – you almost always use such pretty flowers and bows and your cards are always a delight to look at! It’s funny I love that style so much and have a super stock of flowers and bows and yet looking at my cards I rarely use them. For what I like least – that’d be the same as on my blog… the way WordPress does the ‘tags’ section on the sidebar. I finally took mine down and put up ‘categories’ instead. That’s just my personal pref and my gripe with WordPress, tho. : ) I just added you to my Instagram feed. Looking forward to seeing what goodies you turn out in year 5!!

  27. Neva Cole

Congrats on 4 years of blogging! it is a great journey! I have been following you on bloglovin’ for about 2 years and have always been inspired by how detailed all of your project can be with multiple layers. An occasional tutorial on how you make your design decisions would be a fun addition!

    1. kathycNC Post author

Hi, Neva! Thank you so much for this wonderful feedback! I will definitely think about this as I’m blogging. You might laugh though…because sometimes my design decisions are based on “gee…my workspace is a mess, let me clean it up…oh LOOK! Pretty paper!” Hahahah! Good luck in the giveaway!

  28. Helene Huber

Happy 4th to you! I’m so happy our cyber paths crossed!!! What I like best about your blog is just seeing your amazing work–it’s like my daily art inspiration! Your tutorials are so helpful! I can’t think of anything I don’t like. I’m also a FB friend! Hugs, Helene

    1. kathycNC Post author

Thank you so much Florence! I spend a lot of time on composition, so this really means a lot to me. Good luck in the giveaway!

  29. Carol Sterenstein

Happy 4th Anniversary, Kathy! Gosh, I can’t think of anything I don’t like about your posts. Like the others, I follow you everywhere. If I’m in a rush I put off opening your blogs and wait til I can savor them. Every visit reveals new and exciting features! Thanks so much for taking your time to share such lovely creations and for giving us instruction along the way.

  30. Claudia Lane

Happy Blogversary Kathy! You have inspired me to stretch my creativity beyond what I thought possible. I love how patient you have been with all my questions (since I’m kinda new to all this paper crafting stuff) and I love how thoughtful you are in all your projects, especially the cards! There’s an unmistakable flair in all that you do that reflects your kind spirit! As for what I don’t like, hmmm. Nothing I don’t like but maybe the caution that as you progress in this industry you don’t lose that beautiful artful spirit that makes you so unique!

  31. Linda Brown

Congrads on your 4th anniversary! You inspire me with your down to earth chatting and explanations. I love opening my e-mail and finding you there! Have fun at CHA and give us lots of pictures You are like my morning cup of coffee, I just can’t wait to see what comes next. Thanks for all the inspirations and sharing you bring your followers. You’re the best!

    1. kathycNC Post author

Hi, Linda! I wish I was going to CHA…my work is going but I will stay right here. Some day I am going to go there, though; it’s on my bucket list! Thanks for this lovely feedback…I am so humbled and grateful to know that my work is inspiring your creativity. That is my goal! Good luck in the giveaway!

  32. Ina Good

I follow you everywhere!! I love that you do tutorials and use a variety of materials… There is nothing I don’t like about your blog

  33. Susanne Fletcher

Kathy, your blog inspires me and makes me get up out of my chair to go craft. The many projects that I have looked at are beautifully portrayed and the instructions clear. What more can a fellow paper crafter ask for?

Congratulations on your 4th anniversary. Here’s looking for many more.

    1. kathycNC Post author

Wow, Susanne…thank you so much! This just makes my day. My heart is to educate and inpsire, so to know that I am hitting the mark makes me grin from the inside out. Thanks so much! Good luck in the giveaway!

  34. Cec Wintonyk

Happy Blogiversary! Love the step outs in various forms so I can see how your wonderful projects come together. Can’t find anything I don’t like. Love that it is casual and not formal and stuffy. It is a lovely place to visit and written by a lovely lady.

    Tami

    1. kathycNC Post author

Wow…thank you, Tami! I am so thankful that you are enjoying the blog. I do love to share tutorials, and I would do more of them if it wasn’t so doggone time consuming. I try to do at least one a month. I’m so glad you are finding content here that is inspiring you in your own crafting journey. Good luck in the giveaway!

  36. Crimson Owl Creations

Congratulations on the Big 4! I’ve been following you for a while now! I love the large pictures you feature on your blog that makes it easy to see the pretty results! Here’s to a bright future!
    Michele

  37. Ellen Kimble

I love all the beautiful things you make. I make every effect to try and create the same beautiful items. Love you put some on Snapguide but don’t like that the ones I like the best are not there. I am a visual person who needs step by step on somethings.

    1. kathycNC Post author

Hi, Ellen! Thank you so much for the great feedback. I love creating tutorials and would do more of them, but they can take me 2 or 3 days to complete. When my schedule gets really full, I kind of fall down on the job in that department. I have some on YouTube that might be helpful to you. My goal is to do one a month either on Snapguide or YouTube. Good luck in the drawing!

  38. Orlie Severson

Happy 4th Blogiversary !!! I am so glad I found you at Christmas time. I was the hit on the gift I bought from you for a Christmas present. But I want one for myself now. I so enjoy reading all your posts and I love looking at your past and present projects. I don’t think I can find anything I would change on your site so Keep Up The Great Work !!!!!

    1. kathycNC Post author

Hi, Orlie! Wow…you made my day! I’m so glad the cookie recipe folio was a big hit at Christmas. That just makes me grin from ear to ear! I’d be happy to make another one for you. Just let me know and we’ll make it happen. I’m glad you are finding content on my blog that inspires you…that is the goal! Thanks so much, and good luck in the drawing!

  39. Sara Emily Barker

Well, well, well! Happy 4th to you! That’s a lot of posts, a lot of visitors and a whole bunch of fantastic inspiration for me! I’m a stalker (follower) you know, but not for the entire 4 years! That said, I have peeked back in the archives and you NEVER fail to inspire me in some way, Kathy!

What I like best about your blog is the way you write it…it seems as if you are having a conversation at the kitchen table with me when I have my morning coffee. I also love your fabulous photography and your step by step instructions–yes…I read them!

Thank you for your friendship for the past year and a half (or more). You have been a loyal friend, and I love seeing your work and sharing a little bit of every day life with you! Sending hugs and heartfelt congratulations!
