Happy Haunting Halloween Banner with Pretty Petaloo Flowers
Hello, Friends! I got the urge to create a little Halloween banner the other day, and as I was rummaging through my stash of autumn goodies, I found an oldie but a goodie from Graphic 45: Happy Haunting! I’ve always loved the sweet vintage images and traditional color palette of this collection. It’s truly too cute to spook! Before you could say BOO, I was at work, cutting, sewing, spritzing, and gluing this little Happy Haunting Halloween Banner.
Now while I love making banners, photographing them is another matter entirely! But I finally figured out that the little corner cabinet our son made me for Mother’s Day is also a great photo booth!
Creating Custom Petaloo flowers with Tattered Angels Mist
I wanted to totally load up this banner with pretty ribbons and fabulous orange flowers, but I only had two peach posies in my stash. What to do? I quickly realized I could custom color them with Peach Delight and Jack-o-Lantern Glimmer Mist. Problem solved!
Even though these were not DIY flowers, I found that they took the mists very well, and kept their shapes, too. I spritzed the large peach Botanica bloom with Jack-o-Lantern and then spattered it with the darker Peach Delight. I also spattered the cream cherry blossom on the left. The Mini Canvas Sunflower originally had ivory petals, but not any more! And I love the way the Fall Mix Burlap leaves anchor the flower clusters.
This wild sunflower was originally yellow. Look how well it took the color!
I made a small banner to go between each of the large pennants.
Even the Green Darjeeling Dahlias received a light misting of orange. I added them along with the cherry blossoms to provide some color contrast.
The ribbons I used were all from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I’ll provide links below.
So, have you started decorating for Halloween/Fall yet? I’d love to hear what you have planned in the comment section below.
Thanks for stopping by!
