Hello, Friends! As you probably all know, I love color! So when I received this Happy is My Favorite Color stamp in my Design Team box from Tammy, it was love at first sight! My fingers have been itching to work with it, and this morning I rose before the sun with a vision for this card.
Yellow and pink is one of my favorite color combinations. It is just so full of happy! And making this card filled my whole studio with happy vibes. Let’s face it, you know it’s going to be a good day when you have inky fingers before 7AM!
I pulled out all my yellow Distress Ink pads (yes, every last one!) and smooshed them onto my craft mat so I could use a non-wrinkle distress technique on watercolor paper. Next, I cut a panel to measure 5″ x 7″ and ran it through my Big Shot with Tammy’s Blistered Embossing Folder. Then I added some Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberries and Vintage Photo ink to the raised areas.
To add some pattern to the mix, I stamped this background randomly with the Dear Ruby Stamp. Oh, I have a feeling you are going to see a LOT of this fabulous stamp. I love anything related to Typography, and the vintage handwriting on this stamp is scrumptious! The little circle on the right is from Tab Set One. I wanted to balance the design, and filling this with more vintage buttons did the trick, along with a sweet little pink clothes pin.
Shabby Posies
After stamping, embossing and coloring the sentiment panel, I knew I wanted to add some pretty posies to the card. The Shabby Posy Die makes gorgeous flowers, dontcha think? I just die cut them from the yellow background paper then sponged the centers and edges with Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberries. Some of my favorite vintage buttons filled the centers, adding a sweet vintage vibe to this very colorful card.
The leaves were die cut from the same yellow panel using dies from Pom Pom Posies. I colored them with various green Distress Inks, and then sponged in a little Picked Raspberries. The seam binding ribbon was custom dyed with Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberries and Worn Lipstick. Then I cleaned up the green inks on my craft mat to add some depth to the color palette.
A Peek Inside
Creating cards with special details on the inside is one of my favorite things to do. I stamped a leftover bit of my yellow watercolor paper with the Bog Woodgrain Stamp and Worn Lipstick Distress ink for starters.
Then I die cut this darling Deco Edge Envelope from patterned paper (October Afternoon Girl Talk). It was just the right size to hold a lemon/ginger tea bag. I love these itty bitty envelopes so much!
I created a little waterfall folio using the Waterfall One Die. The shaped edge on this die is so very shabby chic.
Bits and bobs of my sunshiny yellow paper add pops of color to the folio. What a fun place to add photos, or write little messages!
I hope this cheery little card added some sunshine to your day. I know I had sunshine in my soul while making it! Yes, indeed…Happy IS my favorite color! What’s yours?
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy

Wow! That is one pretty project! I love the flowers and then the inside…it’s like another full project in there! Tammy is thrilled to have you on the team, I am sure!!!
Hi Kathy!! I’ve been seeing all of your beautiful creations on Facebook and your blog but have been AWOL from commenting for various reasons. Anyway, This little book is so sweet and makes me HAPPY just to look at it! Love your color palette and Tammy’s stamp is darling. Perfect for your style…which is always phenomenal. Your flowers on the front of your book are so lovely. They really make the whole front when combined with Tammy’s stamp. Beautiful work, my friend.
Just gorgeous! Love how you used Tammy’s products!
Beautiful card, Kathy! Those colors look fabulous together, especially the way you have used them, a wonderfully balanced composition! Your have used Tammy’s products in the most creative way–loving those inky papers you cut your elements from! Your leaves look so realistic, and that fun sentiment looks great stamped and colored on top of another sunny inked panel! Love, Love, LOVE this card! Big hugs!
