Home for the Holidays Poinsettia Spray

Spellbinders Home for the Holidays Poinsettia Spray with Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  Today I have a festive little mixed media Home for the Holidays Poinsettia Spray to share with you.  I’ve dressed this mixed media card up with elegant Really Reasonable Ribbon Christmas Plaid, vintage buttons, an inky embossed center panel and lots of pretty die cut flowers.  Let’s take a look, shall we?

Creating the Poinsettia Spray

If you’re in the mood to dabble with mixed media, I think you’ll enjoy this card “recipe”.

  • First, die cut patterned paper with the Spellbinders Picot Petite Large Circle Die.
  • Next, swipe Evergreen Boughs Distress Ink over the top half of the Spellbinders Pine Cones and Berries 3D Embossing Folder.  Lightly mist the die cut with water, place on the bottom half of the folder and run through your die cutting machine using the proper sandwich.
  • Now, brush Nuvo Indian Gold Mousse over the embossed images  to make them pop off the page even more.
  • Then die cut several sets of the florals from the Poinsettia Spray Die.  Use gold mirror cardstock for the branches and flower centers.  Select cardstock scraps for the flowers.  A bit of red mirror cardstock makes pretty berries.
  • Next, emboss a panel of gold metallic foil with the embossing folder and cut it into strips.  Build a “frame” on the card base with the embossed strips.
  • Finally, layer designer papers and the prepared focal point on the front of your card.  Spatter the background with Evergreen Boughs and Nuvo Gold Mousse.
Christmas Plaid Ribbon

This Christmas Plaid Ribbon might be my very favorite Christmas Ribbon of all time.  I love the threads of metallic gold that run through it, and I love how soft and supple it is.  These two factors make for beautiful bows!

TIP: Take your bow to the next level and top with rusty jingle bells and star anise.  Now it sounds and smells as lovely as it looks.

Stamp a sentiment from Nichol’s Needlework onto a scrap of white cardstock and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.  Mat on a scrap of gold cardstock, back with foam tabs and embellish with tiny leaves and berries from the Poinsettia Spray Die set.

A Peek Inside

Turn this greeting card into a gift with a cute tea wallet and honey stick tucked into a pocket.  Be sure to leave room to write a personal greeting on the top half of the card.

I can see myself using this die a lot during the holiday season.  The flowers can be die cut and used on tags, cards or other creations, even without the branch element.

Do you feel inspired to dig into your crafty stash and make something beautiful today?  I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

And, as always, you can find a linked supply list below this post.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

Kathy, this card is stunning! I just love poinsettias for Christmas cards. The petit circle die makes such a beautiful backing for the spray. What a versatile die that is. The ribbon with the star anise is so pretty. That is one of my fav spices. As usual, the inside is full of beautiful images as well. Thank you for sharing! Hugs!❤️
