How to Create a Shabby Chic Lace Spine and Shaker Frame

How to Create a Shabby Chic Lace Spine and Shaker Frame: Prima Cherry Sweet Folio Tutorial Part 5 of 5

Hello, Friends, and Happy Wonderful Wednesday!  Today I’m going to show you how to create a shabby chic lace spine and shaker frame.  It’s week 5 of 5 in our Prima Cherry Sweet Folio Tutorial.  Adding the spine and cover art is always the most exciting part of a project, and I’m excited about finishing up this lovely series.

Nothing says shabby chic like beautiful lace.  Use a matte gel medium to attach this lace overlay spine, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is.  The gel medium really holds the fabric in place and doesn’t leave any annoying residue behind.  I’ll walk you through the process step by step in the video tutorial below.

Quick and Easy Dangle Charm

I found this large copper filigree charm in my stash (tagged in the video in case you “need” one) and decided it was the perfect accent on our lace spine.  Here’s how I did it:

  • First, run a 4″ length of 1/2″ pink gingham ribbon through the loop.  Place hot glue between the ribbon layers to secure the charm.
  • Next, adhere the ribbon to the lace spine with hot glue.
  • Finally, adhere one of the paper bows above the heart.

Quick and easy, but oh, so pretty!

The Shaker Cover

This Tim Holtz Lace Baseboard Frame blends perfectly with our lace spine. Soft pink buttons, shabby chic florals and flirty butterflies are the perfect accents here.

I’ll show you how to embellish the frame and perfectly place the focal image in the video tutorial below.

Have you been following along and creating this folio with me each week?  If so, I’d love to hear how it’s going with you.  Now that you know how to create all the elements in this folio, you can transfer that knowledge to create any style folio for any creation.

We will continue using the Prima Cherry Sweet Collection for the remainder of February.  I’m thinking cute tags projects and cards.  Sound good?

I’m still recovering from my hip replacement surgery, doing lots of physical therapy and walking, so I’m not really “here”.  This is another pre-recorded/scheduled post.  I should be back to “live action” in another week or so.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by!

Cheerio,

kathy

The lace is simply beautiful and enhances the cover, this is such a lovely idea Kathy. I fully understand your wanting to get back into the studio soon and I have everything crossed the creativity and all its healthy benefits will be in full flow again.

I love the lace spine and shaker frame-the perfect finishing touch for this folio. Thank you for posting the videos for this series. Take your time with recovery before going live again as your videos are always worth waiting for!
