How to Make Paper Poinsettias

How to Make Paper Poinsettias: Flower of the Month Tutorial October 2024

Hello, Friends!  Would you like to learn how to make paper poinsettias?  Well, you’re in luck, because it’s time for our Wonderful Wednesday Flower of the month tutorial!

Today I’m going to share my “start to finish” technique for making gorgeous paper poinsettias using my favorite Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia Die.  Then we’ll  make some pretty accent flowers with the Susan’s Garden Nasturtium and Woodland Wreath Dies.  And if t hat’s not enough to entice you to stick around, I’ll also show you how to create the pretty floral arrangement on the belly band of this Simple Stories Yuletide card folio.

Sound good?  Then let’s dig in!

Vintage Style Poinsettia Belly Band

Did you catch our Wonderful Wednesday Birthday Card of the Month Tutorial last week?  Today’s Simple Stories Yuletide Card Folio uses the same design for the card base.  We simply changed up the papers, flowers and ribbons.

This wide belly band gives us lots of room to display our handmade flowers.  But it also helps hold the card’s accordion folds snugly in place.  It’s kind of like beauty meets brains.

I’ll show you how to create the floral arrangement in today’s video tutorial.

It’s very easy to create this lovely arrangement.  Just take it one step at a time, and it all comes together beautifully.  That’s a lot like life, isn’t it?

Would you like to see what’s inside this festive card folio?  I’ll give you a tour of the project and show how to create and arrange these Christmas flowers in today’s tutorial.  So please grab a cuppa and a snack, put up your feet and enjoy this video.

These are just a few of the dozens of paper poinsettias I made while prepping for this tutorial.  I like to make my paper flowers in big batches.  Then I store them away in clear plastic boxes so they are ready for future projects.  Do you do that, too?

I’d love to hear about your flower making adventures in the comment section below.

You can also find a linked supply list below this post.  Some of the hard to find tools and materials are tagged in the video.  Simply click on the tag and you’ll be taken to a shopping venue where you can order quickly and easily.

Since October has 5 Wednesdays in it, I’ll be back next week with out Wild Card Wednesday project!  Hope to see you then!

Thanks for stopping by, friend!

Wow another stunner! The poinsettias are beautiful, full of texture and depth they really work, on the belly band. Love that construction formatting and plan to do more especially now with your Christmas take. I have the distress mica stains, they are fab, but need to be heat set. The distress sprtiz don’t need the heat, but the mica stain colours cover the in between shades and really are gorgeous. I look forward to seeing what you do with them!
