January 2024 Tag of the Month Tutorial

January 2024 Tag of the Month Tutorial with Spellbinders Wax Seal and Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  It’s a brand new year, and I’m here to share my January 2024 Tag of the Month Tutorial with you, Y’all asked for a monthly tag tutorial, and there’s no better time to kick this new series into gear.  I hope you all enjoyed the little break we took between  Christmas and New Year’s.  We had lots of festive family gatherings, loads of good food, and I even managed to sneak in a little nap here and there.  But now it’s time to get back in the rhythm  work and videos and blog posts and all the rest.  I’m excited about all the fun things I have planned for us in 2024!

Photoplay Midnight Garden

Photoplay Midnight Garden-Spellbinders WSOM Jan 24-Reneabouquets-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

I’ve been waiting to share this gorgeous Photoplay Midnight Garden paper collection with you for quite some time.  It was released in late autumn of 2023, and I was already up to my elbows in fall and Christmas crafting, so I didn’t get to share it with you.  But it’s the perfect choice for this first tag of 2024!  The base is a Graphic 45 Large Ivory Tag.  Liners are cut with the Large Tag Dies.

Dressed up with flowers, Glitter Glass Dragonfly and April in Paris Doily from Reneabouquets, this tag has such a wonderful vintage vibe.  You’ll learn how to put the tag together step by step in the video tutorial below.

Spellbinders January Wax Seal of the Month

Have you discovered wax seals yet?  I was first introduced to them when I was helping our daughter with her wedding invitations last year.  They are so much fun to make, and add a great textural element to any project.  So when I had a chance to sign up for the Spellbinders Wax Seal of the Month Club, I did not hesitate!  You’ll learn how to create this pretty wax seal in the tutorial, too.

A Tag with Two Faces

Do you know how January got its name?  In Roman mythology, Janus was the god of beginnings. He  had two faces: one that looked back and one that looked forward. ( Yes, I was a mythology nerd when I was about 10 years old.) The month of January is named for him.  So I designed this month’s tag with two “faces”, if you will.  The front side is a pretty decorative tag, but the back side features a double pocket and flap element.   Surprise!

Two pockets give us lots of room to tuck in little treats, which is something I always try to do when  making a card.   Create the double pocket with a Graphic 45 Regular Ivory tag and a scoring tool.  It’s fast, easy and makes for a great surprise on the back of the tag.

Kathy, what a gorgeous tag! The two sided design is fantastic! The colors are dreamy and I love that magical dragonfly. I’m so excited that you are doing a tag every month. Wishing you a wonderful New Year! Hugs!

Happy New Year Kathy. I can see the tag tutorials are going to be a hit if number one for the year is any indication! Another hint for the book of Kathy Techniques is the way you attached the charm by looping over the ribbons before they were tied into a bundle. Has to be the way to go as it is so secure. The tag dies are perfect and are on my list for this year. Your live session plans sound good and I hope they go well. Thanks for starting the year with a tagbook of fun and surprises.

Love the idea of a monthly tag and your other monthly projects. Am not on Facebook, so that project would exclude a few of us! Would that be the monthly folio you’ve presented in the past? Any plans for Graphic 45 Life is Abundant? Good to see you back with projects after the holidays!

I am now convinced I need the graphic 45 tag dies so I can join your monthly tag creations. This tag is so beautiful. Your 2024 ideas are wonderful and I look forward to learning even more from you. Thanks so much!
