Winter Blues Christmas Folio for the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop
Hello, Friends! Welcome to the RRR December Blog Hop! You should be coming here from Karen’s lovely blog. Today’s project is a Winter Blues Christmas Folio made with Kaisercraft “Frosted” and the Winter Blues Ribbon Club Assortment from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Is there any color combo that’s more wintry than blue and white? Once again, I pulled out my few remaining bits and bobs of Kaisercraft Frosted to play alongside this scrumptious 5/8″ Porcelain Diamond Satin Ribbon. Combined with a little Silver Metallic String it really makes the design on the front of this 7″ x 5″ folio pop!
The folio is wrapped with another length of Porcelain Diamond Satin. Leave the tails long to serve as the closure for the folio.
Winter Blues Christmas Folio: The Bow Cluster
I used my Zutter Bow-it-All Tool to tie this 3 1/2″ double loop bow and the 4 loop metallic string bow. If you struggle with tying bows, I really recommend this tool. I use it every time I craft because using it is like having an extra pair of hands in the studio.
To complete the bow cluster, string two silver glitter jingle bells on more metallic string. Tie a knot to keep them from slipping off. Then add a small dab of hot glue to the top of your bow cluster and place the knotted string in the glue. Immediately add the Little Birdie Margery Ivory Flower on top to hold the jingle bells in place.
Winter Blues Christmas Folio: A Peek Inside
This is a very simple folio design and is almost identical to the folio I made a while back with Garden Goddess. The left hand side hosts an 8 page waterfall. On the right, there’s a little pocket with goodies tucked inside.
Winter Blues Christmas Folio: The Waterfall
Each of the eight pages in the waterfall measures 4″ x 4 3/4″. To hold everything closed, I devised a little magnetic belly band. (These cute die cut silhouettes are from Spellbinders..and they are on sale right now! )
You can fit 16 photos inside the waterfall feature.
I’ve decorated the pages with tuck spots and flaps for journaling and extra fun.
Winter Blues Christmas Folio: The Pocket
The side pocket is filled with this sweet little tea bag/gift card wallet, a hand crocheted ivory snowflake and a honey stick.
I’ve topped the snowflake with the last little bit of the Porcelain Diamond Satin Ribbon so it’s ready to hang on the tree.
Here’s a look at the empty pocket, with the same sweet couple from the cover of the folio. There’s room for photos, recipes or other goodies here.
I have a tutorial for this folio base made with another collection HERE.
On with the hop!
From here, hop on over and see what sweet creations the delightful Linsey has in store for you. You can find the complete hop list on the RRR Blog. And you will want to visit all the blogs so your name is entered in the drawing for your very own Winter Blues Ribbon Assortment.
Thanks so much for hopping! If you are interested in purchasing this folio, you can find it in my ETSY shop. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below.
Cheerio,

I love the retro vibe of your project, Kathy. A great way to showcase this month’s lovely Ribbon Club Assortment from RRR. Thanks for sharing. I’d love to have you link up at http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com (my challenge blog) any time you can.
Blessings,
Karen Letchworth
So much fun!! Several gifts in one. I love this!! And I agree, the blue, white & silver are perfect for any winter creativity.
Love that ribbon! Lovely mini album
The blue grey/silver combo is lovely. Great pop of ribbon on this card
Just love this, Kathy. The ribbons and bells are such a lovely addition…blue ribbons, “yay”. The couple on the inside and outside are so cute…and, so, you’ve given me another wonderful example of a waterfall folio to inspire my “after the holidays” creating! Sending Holiday hugs!
oh wow the colours are stunning and i love the waterfall effect thank you for the tutorial xx merry Christmas x
What a grand project-simply gorgeous!
Absolutely GORGEOUS Kathy. I just love the color palette you used and the design is fantastic. So pretty!!!
I’m obsessing on your frosty blue and white themes. My papers need some dry brush white paint to better fit the color scheme. Thank you Kathy for such lovely inspiration.
I like the waterfall folio design and the frosty colors.
Absolutely Beautiful Kathy! Not only am I a tea lover but blue and white anything is my favorite. When the December RRR selection arrived and I opened the package it was like Christmas morning. The selection is gorgeous. I almost don’t want to use it !. : ) xoxoxoxo
