Let’s Make Spellbinders Christmas Roses

Let’s Make Spellbinders Christmas Roses with Stamperia Home for the Holidays Paper Collection

Hello, Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and I think it would be fun to make Spellbinders Christmas Roses together.  Sound good?  It’s time for our Flower of the Month tutorial, and I think you’re going to really enjoy seeing how I made the pretty floral accents on this altered embroidery hoop.

Altered Embroidery Hoop Christmas Home Decor

Embroidery hoops have become a popular home decor item.  When I thought about altering this embroidery hoop, I  knew I wanted it to double as a shaker frame.  I also knew I wanted to add a large bottlebrush tree to the scene.  But one hoop wasn’t deep enough to accommodate the tree.  Solution?

Glue two hoops together to make a nice, deep frame!  Once I figured that piece of the puzzle out, the rest was pure fun!  Here are a few tips I learned along the way:

  • First, paint all the edges of your hoops with white chalk paint.  I even painted the metal parts!
  • Next, place the hoop over your desired patterned paper and trace around the outside edge.  Trim out the paper and adhere it to the back of one of the hoops.
  • Then, trace the outside edge of the other hoop onto acetate and cut out.  Glue the circle to the back of the second hoop with Dries Clear Adhesive and set aside until it is fully dried.
  • Now you can add 3 layers of foam tape to the back of the hoop.
  • Build  your scene inside the first hoop, add shaker elements and press the two hoops firmly together.
  • All that’s left now is to dress up your hoop with ribbon, flowers and trims.
Spellbinder’s Christmas Roses

Christmas Roses are also called Hellebores or Lenten Roses.  They come in lots of colors and even with double blooms.  You can see more examples of Hellebores HERE.

Because these are large flowers, you’ll want to pair them up with some smaller accent blooms.  The Spellbinders Die set comes with 2 dies to help you make really sweet small blooms.  I’ll show you how to make both sizes in the video tutorial below.

I hope you will have lots of fun making your own Christmas Roses!

Thanks so much for stopping by, friends!

Love that shimmer on the petals, and of course the multi layered frame to allow you to the set the scene, and you certainly did that. Well done Kathy.
