Love is in the Air Shaker Tag Card Tutorial with Prima Marketing Cherry Sweet
Hello, Friends! This Love is in the Air Shaker Tag Card Tutorial is my first “new hip” project! Hip-hip-hooray! I’m back in the studio for limited amounts of time as I continue to recover from total hip replacement surgery. I’ve really missed working with paper, scissors and glue, so I’m glad to be back, if only on a limited basis.
Since I have quite a bit of the Cherry Sweet paper left in my stash, I’m thinking we’ll just use it up during the month of February. Of course, you can create any of these projects using the papers of your choice.
I’ll provide a little hip update at the end of this post.
Cherry Blossoms, Butterflies and a Sweet Shaker Tag Embellishment
Cherry blossom season is right around the corner, so I thought it would be lovely to create a shabby chic card with a cherry blossom theme. Of course, the Cherry Sweet paper collection is a perfect choice! I also found a beautiful Reneabouquets Cherry Blossom Wreath and lace that fit perfectly with our theme.
Need a Valentine? This card works perfectly for Valentine’s Day. It’s also a great anniversary or birthday card. And I think it would make a lovely baby shower card, too. What occasions do you see when you look at this card design?
TIP: Combine Cherry Sweet Cabinet Card Frames with Cherry Sweet Tags to create a quick and easy embellishment for your card front. I’ll show you how in the video tutorial below.
Sweetness on the Inside
Sometimes I think I enjoy creating the inside of a card as much as I enjoy creating the outside. How about you? I had lots of fun adding interactive elements inside this pretty card.
- First, create a gift card envelope with your envelope punch board. Adhere the envelope flap behind the patterned paper layer, and you’ve got a secret space to add a little note or a gift card.
- Next, layer up some patterned paper scraps and ephemera to add another layer of interest.
TIP: Adhere half of an ephemera bow at the top of your butterfly scrap. The left hand side of the bow creates a tuck spot to hold the gift card envelope in place. Don’t you just love simple solutions like this?
Hidden Paper Clip Bookmark, Flower Seeds and Tag
If you are like me, you are always looking for ways to use up paper scraps.
- Paper Piece the bottom half of the card to use up skinny pieces of patterned paper. I’ll show you how in the video tutorial below.
- Dress up a flower seed packet with a scrap of patterned paper and a little ephemera bow.
- Hidden paper clips are a great way to use up scraps of paper! This is the easiest way I’ve found to make them, and I’ll show you how to do it step=by-step in the video tutorial below.

Hip Replacement Update
First, I want to thank each one of you that has messaged, e-mailed, sent cards and/or gifts during my recovery. It has been such an encouragement to me! I honestly don’t have words to adequately thank you for your kindness.
This has been tougher than anticipated. My hip had really degenerated as well as the surrounding muscles. It was a rough surgery and the pain afterwards was significant. It took me a long time to start feeling like I might possibly get back to my old self.
I’m still dealing with a fair bit of pain, although ice, rest and elevation help. I’m having to live at a different pace for the time being. But, I am working with a fabulous physical therapist and he is helping me gain strength, mobility and balance in our twice weekly sessions. Not gonna lie to you. Those sessions kick my butt! But I am seeing real progress, which is awesome.
My surgeon is pleased, and we are already talking about a total knee replacement later this year. So the journey is not over yet. I’ll be a brand new woman once I get all this stuff taken care of.
Hoping you are all safe, well and warm during this unusually cold winter.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy

This card is gorgeous!
What a lovely card, you certainly haven’t lost your touch after time away from your creative space. Well my dear, you are making progress that is the main thing. Best wishes for a continued recovery.
Wish you had a speedy recovery but sometimes good things take awhile. Don’t like to hear about the knee, also. My husband had one over 2 years ago. Take care
First of all I am glad to hear you are pleased with the physical therapy progress. Hopefully the pain subsides soon for you. Thank you for today’s tutorial-your card is beautiful and cheerful!
