Lush Lilacs and Pretty Spring Flowers Tutorial for March 2024 Flower of the Month

Hello, Friends!  Spring is in full bloom and I have a Lush Lilacs and Pretty Spring Flowers Tutorial to help us celebrate!  Yes, it’s time for our March 2024 Flower of the Month Tutorial.  We’re having a blooming big party with Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilac Dies, Spellbinders Pretty Flowers Die, Prima In Full Bloom papers and paper pretties from Reneabouquets.

Oh, and there are bees,  a shaker frame, and a Tea Party in a Box, too.  Talk about pulling out all the stops!  Let’s take a closer look at this cheery 5″ x 7 creation, shall we?

Mixed Media and Mixed Florals, Too

Prima In Full Bloom collection offers some truly lovely color palettes.  Once again, I decided to go with the yellow and purple hues to match my Reneabouquets Lavender Lilac Heart Frame.  Then I got busy creating some handmade florals to embellish the pretty frame.  Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilacs and these Amazing Paper Grace “Pretty Flowers” both went well with the bee/lilac theme that I could not choose between the two. So I made them both!

A Peek Inside

Sometimes I think I enjoy creating the inside of my cards as much as I do the outsides.  There are so many opportunities here to add little surprises and interactive elements.  How about a bee-utiful bee journal card on the flap of a flip page?  That’s fun, right?

It’s even more fun if you turn that journal card into a pocket that holds a packet of wild flower seeds, isn’t it?   There’s also loads of room here to add a sweet little note or a photo.

Tea Party in a Box

The box pocket holds a lovely tea party for one.  It starts with a dressed up packet of  Biscoff Cookies.  Then I tucked a  Lady Grey Tea Bag & Ghirardelli Chocolate into a tiny handmade envelope, tied it with ribbon, and topped it with a tag.  Of course, there’s a spoon to stir one’s cup and a pretty little honey stick to sweeten the tea.  Now that’s what I call a sweet surprise.

If you’ve never made a box pocket before, you can find a tutorial HERE

Important Announcement

I want to  let you all know that I will be changing my video tutorial schedule.  With the expected arrival of a new grandbaby, and an increase in family weekend activities, I am finding it hard to maintain my Make & Take Tuesday and Throwback Thursday video schedule.

So…Make & Take Tuesday is moving to Wonderful Wednesday!  This gives me an extra day to prepare after a busy weekend.  We will still follow our 2024 schedule of Tag of the Month, Banner of the Month, Birthday Card of the Month and Flower of the Month tutorials.  If there’s a 5th Wednesday, I’ll toss in a wild card tutorial for something fun.

Throwback Thursdays videos will be taking their final bow, however.  I simply cannot keep up with 2 video tutorials each and every week.  I’ll pop in with a 2nd video here and there as time allows, of course.

These changes will go into effect starting in April.  Thanks so much for your kind understanding.

You can find a linked supply list below this post.

Thanks so much for stopping by, friends!

Beautiful, pretty, and a clever use of a variety of materials to make this folio. Handmade blooms make this piece very special. I finally found some mustard seeds to add to the stash, they can only go on locally sent items though due to quarantine, but will be very handy, thanks so much for that idea.
Thursday mornings for me will just have to be arty time so I can start the day with a Kathy video for inspiration! Two more days left and all the gear has to be packed ready for moving on the 3rd.

You do what you must do Kathy, family is number one and I am thankful to have discovered your website and learned so much more over the last few years! There are plenty of videos in your stash to re watch just to remind me of techniques etc if I need an extra Kathybydesign fix!
