Hello, Friends!
Well, I have waited and waited to share this project with you, and the time has finally arrived! Waaaaay back in October, I announced that I had been chosen as a Crew Member in the Vintage Marketplace for Canvas Corp Brands. Our first team challenge was to create a 4×4 canvas to represent us, and our style. This was supposed to go live on December 1st, but the holidays, shipping problems, and CHA caused the deadline to be pushed back over and over again. But the long awaited day has come, and here at last, is my Maritime Canvas.
I began by spraying the canvas with various mists from the Tattered Angels Maritime Paint System. I then covered my canvas with images from the beautiful Maritime 6×6 paper collection. The colors and images in this collection are so my style! I just love them. I added some charms and loads of shells that I’ve collected from our many long walks on the North Carolina Shore.
The letter tiles were in my stash….many a Scrabble game has been purchased at many a yard sale! I inked these up with more of the mists, and then added an apothecary’s bottle, filled with sand and itty bitty shells to complete the vignette.
I wrapped the canvas with my favorite Natural Jute String. It always makes me think of the sea! And,can yousee the cute mini kraft bag and tag peeking out from between the fish and the sailor? The seashell tag disappears down into the tag. I always enjoy adding a little interactive element to my projects! I stamped the bag with the compass and embossed it in gold. My seam binding ribbon was customized with more of the Maritime Paint system.
Oh, this Maritime Canvas makes me long for a walk along the shore! I’d freeze my head off right now…but soon…very soon! And until then, I’ll look at this little canvas and dream of the sea!
Thanks for stopping by!
Oh my WOW, Kathy! This is gorgeous- this is so you; you were born to make canvases! I am now yearning for a vacation and wanting to go find some scrabble games at yard sales, 😉 The apothecary jar is the icing on the cake!
This is just so awesome, love the scrabble tiles, apothecary bottle and shells, so many awesome layers and fun details.
Gorgeous Kathy, it so reminds you of the sea, a perfect picture to make you want to be there. Love all the little shells nestled together. So clever x
Ohhhh, Kathy!!! This is an amazing piece of artwork. I’m so in awe of you. Each new project that you share with us, I find myself coming to your blog and drinking in each tiny detail. Everything is so perfectly placed, and yet, you seem to be able to do it with such a natural ease. Me? I spend ages placing something ‘here’ then ‘there’ and then ‘over there’… and still not be sure that it’s the right thing anyway!
My only wish is that we lived in the same country as each other, because I’d be round at your house, knocking on the door and asking …. “Can I buy this one from you, Kathy?”. It’s stunning and I absolutely love it.
Congratulations on a truly breathtaking piece of art.
Sending love, as always ~ Cobs. x
WOW! Love this, Sis. You and your work are amazing!
Fantastic! I love this!
Kathy, love your sea canvas. It really speaks to who you are-an incredible artist, a fun-loving collector, and a woman calmed and soothed by the sea! Of course, I love all your tiny embellishments and your beautifully written words. This project & this posting are both treasures!
Did you ever take courses in art? You really are the most talented lady I know. Your designs are just amazing and there is always something new to look at everytime I go back to that page. I am surprised that more companies aren’t “needing” your talents. Maybe they are, but you can only do so much right? You are always inspire me to get busy creating. I have be procrastinating forever in getting started, mainly because I have too many projects “open” that I want to finally finish before starting on another.
Your work is always amazing to me Kathy! Have a great weekend.
Gorgeous – love how you used the scrabble tiles.

This is just such a wonderful canvas and it really does represent your style! All the wonderful little elements that you add, even if you think we might not be able to see them. This is the attitude of a true artist! love the itty bitty anchor charm dangling down the front. Love your Scrabble tiles, genius!! big hugs 🙂
