May Banner of the Month Tutorial with Reneabouquets and Graphic 45 Time to Flourish

Hello, Friends!  Are you ready for our May Banner of the Month Tutorial?  May????  Already????  Sure enough, we will be turning the calendar page in just a couple of weeks.  I’m not trying to rush the year, but I do like to give you enough time to get each month’s banner made before the new month rolls around.

If you are new to this series, you can find the previous tutorials HERE. Once again, we will be working with Graphic 45’s Time to Flourish collection and paper pretties from Reneabouquets.

Dreamy Dragonflies

The theme for this month’s banner is dragonflies and May flowers.  Since the color palette of the May Time to Flourish papers is heavy on the purples, I decided to accent our banner with purple and white flowers, floral lace trim, and lots of pretty dragonflies.

Because I like variety, the banner this month uses a combination of small banner pieces placed between Graphic 45 Square Ivory Tags.  Each pennant features a springtime vignette.

Stitch your pennants between wide ribbon and pretty lace trim.  The square tags hang upside down which lets us hang a pretty dangle charm from the grommets.

Even though these die cut pennants are ATC sized, you can still create a lovely scene with border pieces, postage stamps, dragonflies and flowers.  And how much do we love this vintage lace?  Ooh la la!

The Shaker Frame

Create a strong focal image on the pennant in the center of the banner.  I chose to create a shaker frame using this lovely Reneabouquets Violet frame.  It’s the perfect color match for the paper collection, and so perfectly vintage.

Don’t be afraid to repeat a design on these smaller pennants.  Simply stagger the elements in a different direction to create a sense of symmetry.

I could not resist adding this sweet resin nest to the banner.  It’s a design that’s featured in the paper collection, and it works so well with our sweet Flower Fairy image.

From beginning to end, each pennant has something pretty to see.  What fun I had putting this one together for you!

Love this banner and all the details you include on each pendant, even the small ones. The shaker element in the middle is my favorite though! I appreciate watching how you build the layers and the techniques you share along the way!

The May banner is stunning! I’m a big fan of purple too. Loved watching you create the shaker window! Your method way easier than what I’ve been doing.

Everything about this banner is beautiful, the embellies are stunning. I struggle with dragonflies, they never seem to fit, yet you use them with such ease! Gorgeous lace and I agree ‘let it show’ means it frames the banner in a soft and pretty way. The shades of purple are eye catching too and as the songs go, what’s love got to do with it? Well this banner, I love it because it is beautiful, and shows your creative skills in the most delightful way! Thanks Kathy.
