More Tunnel Cards with Stamperia Gear Up for Christmas: My “Ghost of Christmas Past” Series
Hello, Friends! Because I had so much fun making our Wonderful Wednesday Tunnel Cards, I’m back today with More Tunnel Cards made with Stamperia Gear Up for Christmas. If you missed that tutorial, you can find it HERE.
As I told you, I have probably enough Christmas paper to last me for the next 25 years. I’m on a quest to liberate these gorgeous paper collections from the Closet of Inspiration and Delight (aka the Closet of Shame) and bring them to life. My plan is to create and share as many projects as I can between now and Christmas. I’m calling this my “Ghost of Christmas Past” series.
Wonderful Wednesday tutorials will feature the new paper collections I previewed HERE. But in between I’ll share as many Ghost of Christmas Past projects as I can. Sound good?
Stamperia Gear Up for Christmas Steampunk Mouse Tunnel Card
Y’all know I love a whimsical paper collection. The work of Farell Tailor, the designer responsible for Whispering Woods, Hidden Grove and Cozy Winter as well as Gear Up for Christmas. While I enjoy steampunk, sometimes it can be a little dark for my tastes. Farell has this amazing ability to infuse light, life, joy and whimsy into everything she creates. And this paper collection is no exception! I just love this dapper little Steampunk Mouse. he makes me think of Dicken’s Oliver Twist character. Can you see it?
Instead of using a circle die to cut the tunnels for this card, I used some nesting rectangle dies. I actually found it a lot easier to add layers to this shape, so I’ll be sure to do it again! The back of this card is also finished, and I’ll show it to you in the video below.
Steampunk Santa Arch Opening Tunnel Card
Next up in my tunnel card adventure, I tried using a Heartfelt Creations Eyelet Arch Die to cut the openings. I love this Steampunk Santa, and I really like the effect that the arch shape provided. And how ’bout those darling little mice?
TIP: Mat each card layer on cardstock to create a really sturdy base. Last time, I only added cardstock to the top and bottom layers. I found it’s much better to mat all three layers of the card.
Steampunk Village Pocket Card
Naturally, once I’d completed the above cards, I had lots of scraps on my work desk. On the spur of the moment I decided to create this 6×6 Pocket card. Here’s how to make the base:
- First, score a 6″ x 8 1/2″ panel of Brick Red cardstock on the long side at 6″.
- Next, fold the 2 1/2″ flap up to form a pocket.
- Now add 1″ x 2 1/4″ gussets to the sides, Voila! Pocket card base finished.
- Line with kraft and patterned paper of your choice.
- Load the pocket up with a bookmark, tea, chocolate, and mini folio.
This makes a great gift!
Of course, I had to dress up the back side of the card, too. Score a 5 3/4″ x 8″ panel of patterned paper at 5 3/4″, then fold the top flap down. Dress it up as you like.
Add a cute little pop up element under the flap. How fun is that?
