Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Card for Mojo Monday

Good Saturday morning to you, friends!  I have a great card for you to enjoy while you sip on your morning coffee.    Today I created an elegant Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.   Here’s the sketch:

  Has anyone else noticed that the ampersand is very trendy right now?  I love the stylized version Stampin’ Up uses in this Mr. & Mrs. stamp.  The clean lines of the font paired with the bold ampersand make for a striking image, especially when heat embossed. What could be better on a wedding card? ( I’ve also used this stamp to make thank you notes for the bride in the wedding colors…stunning!)

Mr & Mrs. Wedding Card Details

I started this Mr. & Mrs wedding card by cutting a 4 1/4″ x 3″ panel from Crumb Cake cardstock.  I used my Embossing Buddy on the surface before stamping with  my ” Mr. & Mrs.”  stamp.  This helps keep the embossing powder from sticking in places you don’t want it to stick, and makes for a nice, clean impression. Next, I stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  The corners were punched with an old punch from Tonic Studios. At this point, the panel still looked a little “plain”, so  I inked up the botanical image with Versamark and just randomly stamped it around the Crumb Cake panel.  Then it was matted onto Basic Black  cardstock to really make the punched area pop.  A few copper brads in the corners, and the focal image for this card was finished. It was mounted on 6 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ panel of  flocked Mocha Morning paper, then matted with Basic Black cardstock for a finished size of 6 1/2″ x 5″.

  The side panel was a simple layering of Basic Black and Crumb Cake card stock with a thin strip of that gorgeous black flocked paper.  I used a copper ribbon slide and some mocha and black stitched ribbon at the top, and added this yummy shabby flower from May Arts.  Such a quick and easy card to make!

  The interior was hand-lettered, repeating the theme from the front of the card.  When I hand letter a card, I do two simple things to avoid disaster: I pencil in my sentiment and I use a T-square to keep my lines straight.  Then, I go back with a fine line Sharpie pen, trace over the lettering and once the ink is dry, I erase the pencil lines. 

  The interior of the envelope was lined with more paper from Mocha Morning…

….and the envelope flap was covered with a piece of that glorious flocked paper.  I know these are not traditional wedding colors…but the end result is elegant and I love it!
