Heartfelt Creations August 2019 Alumni Hop: Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial
Hello, Friends! Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations August 2019 Alumni Blog Hop! I’m kicking things off today with a bright and cheery Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial. This was my first attempt at making a triple easel card, and after some trial and error, I finally figured out how to do it! So I made a tutorial for all of you to save you some time, energy and paper. Let’s take a closer look at the details on this happy card.
Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial: The Inspiration
Fall is peeping around the corner here in North Carolina. The temperature might not show it, but the squirrels have been scurrying around stashing away acorns for winter. Watching their antics inspired me to make this 6″ x 6″ card using the darling Oakberry Lane Collection.
Easel cards are one of my “go to” fancy fold designs. I love how quick they are to make, and how easy they are to display. You can watch the video below to learn how to create the base.
Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial: The Details
Here are some tips and tricks for adding the details to this fun card.
- First, stamp the Acorn House on Smooth White Cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink.
- Next, color it in with Distress Markers and a water brush. Simple scribble the marker on a craft mat or a bit of clear acrylic packaging. Then pick up the color with a water brush and blend it onto the stamped image.
- Now, die cut the house, the windows and the squirrel Mom with the matching die. Pop up on adhesive strips and attach to the base.
- Next, stamp 3 sets of Oakberry Lane Flowers using Butterscotch Archival Ink. Heat Emboss flowers and leaves with Clear Embossing Powder.
- Then, water color with Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey Distress Markers and a a water brush. Color the leaves with Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron.
- Die cut the leaves, then shape in the 3D Blossom Shaping Mold, following the directions for your machine.
- Now add stamens to the centers and layer together.
- Tie bows for each corner with Orange/Fuchsia/Lavender Checkered Ribbon. Top with burlap string.
Use the dies to cut out images from the paper collection and scatter them around on the card to create a scene. (Did you see that rascally little squirrel trying to snatch away Mother Squirrel’s freshly baked pie?)

Yes, I have noticed the squirrels are much more active, and it NOT because it’s any cooler here in Wilmington! I think they are prepping for Dorian, actually. Kathy, your triple easel card is a real delight! I love how it pops up, and although I haven’t seen your video yet, I’m thanking you in advance for making it. I’m squirreling it away to view when I have more time to devote, and so I can give the technique a try. The squirrels on this are just adorable and your flowers are excellent! This is a new favorite for me! Hugs!

Hi, Kathy,
I just love easel cards! Thank you for being the generous person you are and taking the time to give us a tutorial – so appreciated. Hey, your husband provided the music for your video – it’s lovely! I play guitar, too, but not as good as him. Does he have any CD’s? What collaboration!
