Pink Flamingo Valentines Day Mini File Folder for Really Reasonable Ribbon
Hello, Ribbon Lovers! When I was a little girl, my great-grandmother had gorgeous flower gardens. They were always blooming with some fabulous variety of Iris, or Peonies, or Hydrangeas. But the thing I remember the most about her gorgeous flower beds was a pair of pink plastic flamingos that flanked the bird bath. I was entranced by these exotic birds! So, when I found the new Fabulous collection from Authentique, I had to have it. As luck would have it, the papers look smashing with the January Ribbon Club Assortment from RRR. This little Pink Flamingo Valentines Day mini folder is a prime example of how much fun it is to mix pink papers with red ribbons.
Every single time I look at this Pink Flamingo Valentines Day Mini Folder, I laugh out loud. It just makes me happy, happy, happy! I mean, what’s not to love about a pink flamingo in a fedora?
This little portfolio/file folder measures 4″ x 5.5″. I created a tie closure by layering Red Chevron Striped Grosgrain ribbon over Red Swirls on White Satin Ribbon. Scor-Tape holds both ribbons firmly in place. I used my Zutter Bow it All Tool to tie a tiny White Taffeta Bow and tucked it beneath my Petaloo blooms to anchor them in the corner. The side bow is tied with 5/8″ Red Satin with a grosgrain edge. I love working with this particular ribbon because it ties gorgeous bows!
Let’s Take a Look Inside
There’s a whole lotta fun stuffed inside this mini folder. Each side has a cute little pocket that I’ve decorated with papers from the collection and more fabulous ribbon.
The pocket on the left has a sassy retro styled journal card, an individually wrapped chocolate and a tea bag…in a pink foil wrapper, of course!
The pocket on the right has a fun vintage button card that I’ve topped with paper spool. The spool is wrapped with Random Hearts and Confetti Dots grosgrain ribbon. I’ve secured the ribbon in place with black burlap string and a couple of stick pins.
Although this would make a great Valentine, I think you could also send it out to cheer up a friend in the middle of winter. I mean, really….can you stop yourself from smiling when you see pink flamingos? I, for one, cannot!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Kathy,
another super creation and it’s very gorgeous.
The colours are so fantastic, and that wonderful image of the flamingo is great.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
This just couldn’t be cuter and you’re right about it being a great pick-me-up for just about anyone. That jaunty pink flamingo with the black top hat sets the stage for fun and it gets even better once you open the card. LOVE that cute little spool with the ribbon wrap and oh yum, some chocolate and tea!
I love the quirky flamingo with his fedora. Lovely card Kathy and the magic overflows to the inside too. Gorgeous colours and beautiful ribbons finish it off so nicely. Thanks for sharing hugsxx
Enjoy so much how you mix and match and add to make your designs. The flamingo is a great touch–so unexpected. Thanks for sharing.
Adorable Kathy. Thanks for sharing.
You have done it yet again. Love this whimsy, retro, vintage mix. Love the insides! You are right who wouldn’t love a flamingo in a fedora.
Oh, my, yes! That would surely cheer anyone up at any time of the year! The chevron ribbon ties in great with the sassy papers! Every once in a while we see a yard FULL of pink flamingos! Retirement, I think! Sending warm hugs!
This is such a sweet idea! This would also make a great “Get Well” gift too! Tea, a packet of Lipton Soup Mix, Kleenex tissues and a piece of chocolate! Thanks for the inspiration!!
This makes me happy too! I love the new Authentique collection and what you made with it–takes me back to my childhood–and the flamingo makes me want to head to Florida!
So cute! Would be perfect for my friend in Key West. They have a great wooden Flamingo Haven sign that Laura find for them. A very fun project!
