Pretty and Simple Interactive Folio Pages Tutorial: Part 4 of 5 Prima Cherry Sweet Shabby Chic Folio

Hello, Friends, and Happy Wonderful Wednesday!  Today I’m sharing pretty and simple interactive pages tutorial for our Prima Cherry Sweet Shabby Chic Folio project.  This is week 4 of 5.  If you missed our previous posts, you can find them HERE.

Do you ever struggle with a new idea for an interactive page in a folio design?  You want to do something innovative, but you also want it to come together quickly, right?  I hear ya!  Today’s interactive pages fit the bill perfectly.  Best of all, you can use these ideas for mini albums or even in a card folio.

Envelope Photo Storage Sleeve

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for a way to add more photos without adding more pages to a folio base.  While making our daughter’s wedding album, the idea occurred to me that I could use my envelope punch board to create a really sleek envelope storage sleeve.

This envelope is made with a 9 1/2″ square of patterned paper, takes about 3 minutes to make, and works like a charm!

Simply adhere the envelope flap behind your base page and you have an instant photo storage sleeve!  How cool is that?

Photos can be stored directly in the envelope, or you can create photo mats as I did here.  This simple feature will hold a surprising number of photos.

Of course, if you don’t have an envelope punch board (and you really should because they are awesome!) you can simply decorate a 5×7 envelope with your designer papers.  It takes a little longer this way, but it works!

One of the reasons I like having an envelope punch board in my studio is that I can create envelopes in almost any size in a jiffy!  It’s a real time saver, plus these custom envelopes look classy no matter how you use them.

Quick and Easy Reverse Waterfall and Pocket Page

If you cut your designer paper wider than your base page and score a flap, you’ve created the easiest kind of interactive page.  Dress up the flap with a pretty journal card and tie it with a piece of flat lace to really amp up the shabby chic vibe.

Behind the flap, add a little pocket and tag along with a reverse waterfall.

What’s a reverse waterfall? Instead of scoring your turn flap at the top of a waterfall element, you just score it on the bottom edge.  For these arched waterfall pages, I used my Heartfelt Creations Eyelet Gateway Arch Die.  First, cut out the shape from plain cardstock.  Next, score a 1/2″ flap along the bottom of the die cut shape.  Then, adhere your patterned paper on both sides of the die cut shape.  It’s  a fun variation of the standard waterfall die.

I think you’re going to love how quickly today’s pages come together!  Please enjoy the video tutorial on my YouTube channel.

I hope you are all keeping warm and cozy during this chilly winter month.  I am busy with physical therapy following my hip replacement surgery.  I’ll be back to live action soon!

Next week, we will finish the folio by adding the cover art and lace spine.  I hope you’ve had as much fun making this shabby chic folio as I have!

Since I have quite a bit of this paper collection left in my stash, I think I’m going to continue to use it during the month of February.  We’ll make some sweet cards and tags together.  Sound good?

Thanks so much for stopping by, friends!

You seem to be progressing with your rehabilitation and will soon be over the creative withdrawal symptoms and back in your artistic space! The folio really showcases the papers and allows photographers so many spaces to display their memories. Thinking of you every day Kathy.
