RRR Hearts and Ribbon Challenge

RRR Hearts and Ribbon Challenge

Hello Friends!  Really Reasonable Ribbon has a great new challenge up on the BLOG.  It’s the Hearts and Ribbon Challenge, just in time for Valentine’s Day!  You don’t have to make a Valentine, though.  Your project can be a layout, altered art, card, off the page project…anything you like as long as there’s a heart and ribbons tucked in somewhere.

Since I love Valentine’s Day, I made a cute little Valentine featuring some of the pretty pink ribbons from the January Ribbon Club Assortment.

I created a 5″ x7″ side fold card with a cutaway edge.  Cutaway cards are so much fun to make, as the shaped edge adds a bit of visual interest to the card front, and also lets the pretty papers and ribbons on the inside peek through.  I love this hot pink/shocking pink diagonal striped ribbon so much, and layering on the fold along with a fluffy bow made with Shocking Pink Shimmer Satin and mini hearts on pearl pink grosgrain is girly and fun.  I slipped a bunch of little ribbon scraps from the assortment under my cute little bakery angel from the Crafty Secrets Homemade Booklet.  This is such a great way to use up those little snippets of leftover ribbon!

I fussy cut the pretty cupcakes from some scraps in my basket, then “sugared” the top with a dusting of Ranger Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter.   It’s the perfect touch for those yummy cupcakes!  I lightly brushed clear drying liquid glue onto the tops of the cupcakes, and then dusted them with the glitter.  Quick and easy, and they look almost good enough to eat.  Not nice to feature cupcakes on my card when I’ve just started my after the holidays diet!

The inside of the card has a torn edge layered with Brenda White Crochet Lace and more of the mini hearts ribbon.  The pretty ribbons can be seen even when the card is closed due to the cutaway edge.  It’s a simple way to add depth, dimension and texture to a card.

Now it’s your turn!  Create something pretty for our Ribbons and Bows challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon and link it up to the RRR blog.  I’ll be popping by to take a look at your lovely creation, and I can’t wait to see what you make!

Now go get your craft on!

Cheerio,

kathy

I love this pretty layered Valentine card! Aren’t the ribbons from January Ribbon Club so pretty! Of course it helps if you love the Valentine colors like I do! Since I love to bake, I really love the little baker image featured on your card. I’ve en”rolled” for a class at the Culinary Center – Baking the Best Cinnamon Rolls Ever – a week from Sunday…wish you could be here to go with – or at least share a bite!
