Butterfly Medley “Seeds of Hope” Card for Heartfelt Creations Wednesday
Hello, Friends! Welcome to the first Heartfelt Creations Wednesday in March! I was so happy to turn the calendar page over to a new month…one that promises spring sunshine, flowers, green grass and blue skies. Hooray! With that in mind, I prepared this Seeds of Hope card to share with you today.
I had fun making this one! I tried some experimental techniques in making my flowers, created a framed window for the card focal and added some special mica flakes for extra texture. What do you think?
This 5″ x 7″ side fold card features pretty papers from the Butterfly Medley Collection of stamps, papers and dies. This dreamy aqua is one of my all time favorite colors, so I had to use the card front in a project somewhere.
I combined some Spellbinder Dies with a 6″ x 6″ panel to create this dimensional window pane. The die cut frame has been treated with Stampendous Shabby Blue Embossing powder, and I love the antique, speckled effect it created. And these Botanical Rose stamps and die are a must have for anyone who loves to make flowers! There are so many different ways you can shape the pretty ruffled edges!
I had fun experimenting with the flowers. I don’t know if you can see the small cracks and vintage shine on these petals, but in real life, it’s pretty dramatic. I stamped and embossed my flowers with Evergreen Bough and then inked them with a combination of yellow Distress Inks, Once they were shaped and stacked, I painted them with a layer of Viva Decor White Stamp paint and followed that up with a healthy coat of Ranger Distress Crackle Paint. The fun thing here was that when the Distress Crackle paint dried, it also cracked the white paint beneath, creating the wonderful texture you see here.
The inside of the card was finished with a bit of artwork from the collection and another pretty paper panel. I am always delighted and amazed at how many beautiful elements Heartfelt Creations packs into each paper collection!
So, that’s it for me today, folks! You’ll find a complete supply list and detailed instructions below. I hope you enjoyed this Seeds of Hope card….and I hope Old Man Winter has had his last fling with us in 2015!
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy

Directions:
Create a 5″ x 7″ side fold card base using Pool Party Cardstock. Emboss with embossing folder and sponge with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink. Cut the card front from the paper collection and trim to 4.5″ x 6.5″. Use the oval die to cut the center from the card front. Cut a frame from white cardstock using the largest Scalloped Circle Die. Trim the center of the frame so that it matches the size of the oval window. Tap with Versamark Ink and emboss with Shabby Blue Embossing powder. Add to the card front. Select the Wings of Hope card front from the paper collection, ink the sky area with Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Bough, then trim to fit behind the window frame. Set in place using foam tape. Mat with Pearlized White cardstock. Run a strip of 1/2″ Scor-Tape along the base of the card, as shown and press the mica flakes onto the tape. Glue onto the prepared card base.
Stamp 2 sets of Botanical Roses onto white cardstock using Evergreen Bough DI. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Die cut and then ink with a combination of the yellow Distress Inks. Shape and stack. Spray with Perfect Pearls Mist. Paint with a light coat of Viva Décor White Stamp Paint and then with a coat of Crackle Paint. Set aside to dry. Stamp the leaves from Open Leaf Cling Stamp Set onto cardstock using Forest Moss DI. Die cut and color with ink. Tap with White Viva Décor Stamp Paint then with Crackle paint. When dry, cut into 3 pieces and glue onto card front along with flowers. Stamp clocks onto white cardstock with Coffee Archival Ink. Heat emboss and die cut. Color with Distress Ink and tuck into the floral arrangement.
Stamp the butterfly medley stamp onto Pool Party cardstock using Evergreen Bough DI. Heat emboss and die cut. Glue one butterfly onto card as shown. Add rhinestones and stickles. Add Stickles to the centers of the flowers in the card focal. Let dry.
Tie a triple loop bow from tropic Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon and add to the card.

The colours on this card are absolutely gorgeous Kathy. Your flowers are beautiful and how they have crackled is amazing. We have had lovely sunshine this afternoon, but with freezing cold winds, yesterday it even gave a dusing of snow and hailstones. Hoping it will soon warm up. Take care x
