Shabby Chic Bloom Card with Shabbylicious Seam Binding Ribbon
Hello, Ribbon Lovers! Every once in a while, a girl needs to get her shabby chic groove on. So today I have a shabby chic Bloom card with a shabbylicious bow made with Really Reasonable Ribbon seam binding.
I’ve been super busy cleaning out my Closet of Shame and the Closet of Shame 2.0 because we have finally sold our big family home and are preparing to downsize into a “just the right size” rancher. In the process, I have unearthed some wonderful treasures, like these Basic Grey chippies and paper. This is an ancient collection (Porcelain) but when I paired it up with Polly’s Paper Studio Large Floral Journal digi art, it felt all brand new and shiny!
The wonderful thing about seam binding is that you can custom dye it to match any paper. Just smear some Distress Ink onto a non-stick craft sheet, spritz with water until little beads form, and then crumple your ribbon up into that lovely, inky pool. For this bow, I used a combination of Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose and Spun Sugar Distress Inks. Then when you use your heat gun to dry the seam binding, keep crumpling it with your fingers (just as if you are scrunching your hair with mousse). Then tie it into a bow using your Zutter Bow-it-All Tool. When you’re done, you have a fabby shabbylicious seam binding bow to add to your project!
I love seam binding so much that I bought a whole spool of cream seam binding from RRR when I first joined the team many moons ago. It is the perfect choice for making fabby shabbylicious bows! Especially when you top it with a perfectly pink magnolia blossom. Ooh la la!
The inside of the card is finished with more papers from the collection and a pretty pink and green sticker.
I hope you’ll try making your own shabby chic seam binding bows. If you’re not comfortable with custom dying your seam binding, you can find it in a rainbow of colors in the RRR store.
Thanks for stopping by!

So very pretty Kathy! Love all the layers and shabby goodness!
Such a gorgeous creation! Isn’t it lovely when you rediscover things!
Stunning creations, Kathy! You are the layering queen! The bird is so gorgeous! Thanks so much for your sweet words to me lately, you’ve really made me feel special and I appreciate you. Biggest hugs, Autumn
Stunning work!
Thank you, Donna! This was a fun card to make. Sometimes it’s good to dig into our “old” stuff and have a play!
Very pretty!
Thank you, Sondra! I’m a big fan of pink and green!
I get so side tracked when going through things around here. Before I know it, a couple hours have passed and I am no farther ahead 🙂 Oh except for all the beautiful reminders of the past with my Mum and Dad.
Good luck with your packing and organizing. Good time to downsize as well. Nice bling on this card Kathy. I don’t know where you find the time 🙂
What a sweet, sweet card! I love the colors, flowers, blingy birdy, gorgeous ribbon, and well, everything! You’re creating beautiful things while getting ready to move. Wow! You are a wonder, Kathy!
Hugs,
Kris
