Shabby Chic Easter Greetings Card for Really Reasonable Ribbon
Hello, Ribbon Lovers! Today’s post is all about Easter, spring flowers, bunny rabbits and beautiful purple polka dot ribbon! The Grape Swiss Dots Satin Ribbon from the March Ribbon Club Assortment is the perfect playmate for Graphic 45’s Sweet Sentiments collection. I used them to make this shabby chic Easter Greetings card with Pockets & Tags.
My sewing machine has been gathering dust lately, so I decided to add some stitched card layers to this pretty pastel creation. To pick up on the beautiful shades of purple, I used Grape Satin Swiss Dots Ribbon in my bow and belly band . Polka dots are perfect for springtime, don’t you agree?
Lots and Lots of Lovely Layers
This 5″ x 7″ top fold card design has lots and lots of lovely layers, all matted with cream cardstock. So it weighs about a pound! LOL
I used waste chipboard to elevate the chipboard image which added lovely depth and dimension to the card design. To continue with the layering theme, I buddied up a punched cardstock tag with a chipboard tag and brass bunny charm. This combo is tied to the side of the chipboard frame.
My Zutter-Bow-it All Tool helped me tie this scrumptious triple loop bow. Then I topped it off with some Ivory Burlap String and this gorgeous butterfly make with Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies.
Easter Pockets and Tags
To turn a greeting card into a gift, why not add some pockets and tags?
You can easily turn a journaling card from the collection into a clever pocket. Simply glue it onto a piece of cardstock that is 1/2″ wider on each side and along the bottom. Then score, fold, bevel the edges and glue the flaps onto the card surface. Instant pocket!
Now what to put inside?
I created a little vintage style button card! Isn’t it fun?
Follow the same procedure outlined above to create the larger pocket on the bottom, only this time use a circle punch to add a thumb hole.
This pocket holds a little chocolate treat and a tag made from scraps. I added the button card into the photo because I like it so much.
This little tag is made from scraps of goodness that were lying on the table when I finished. Why toss them in the scrap bin when you can turn them into a sweet little goodie like this?
Wouldn’t this make a great hostess gift for the spring holidays? I hope you’ve found some crafty inspiration from this shabby chic Easter Greetings card with pockets and tags!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Kathy, beautiful creation, I love your tag, but that image on front of the girl, bothered me, like the head wasn’t hers to old in the face. The tag wasn’t like that, a beauty.

Wow! Another beauty, Kathy! I love the blue polka dot ribbon and how perfectly it goes with the colors in this collection! You have such an incredible eye! As always I love the little pockets and tags, especially the button card! But out front, I love the addition of the doily which adds so much texture and yet a place for the eye to rest. And that sweet little bunny charm! Oh, la, la! Another beautiful creation, so perfect for Easter! I’ve been working on an Easter card, and it will never be as beautiful as this! Sending hugs!
Love, love, love this. You are the Queen of pockets and tags!
