Simple Stories Winter Woods Snowman

Simple Stories Winter Woods Wall Hanging Reneabouquets Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 01

Simple Stories Winter Woods Snowman Home Décor & Another Giveaway

Hello, Friends!  This Simple Stories Winter Woods Snowman wall hanging makes me happy on so many levels.  First, it’s a snowman.  Can you really feel grumpy or out of sorts when you see a snowman?  I can’t!  Then, there’s the tutu trim.  I mean, people, it’s just too too much fun!  Throw in some beautiful Really Reasonable Ribbon, gorgeous papers, stunning chipboard and a chippy white vintage hanger and I’m just happy all over.  How about you?

A Little Confession…..

Simple Stories-Winter Woods-Reneabouquets-Really Reasonable Ribbon-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design-Photo 01

I do have a little confession to make here.  When I was filming the video tutorial for my Winter Woods Mini Album Kit, I had a major technical malfunction.  I thought my phone was recording.  But my memory card was full…so while I cheerfully crafted and taught…nothing was being recorded.  Uh-oh.

And the nature of paper is that once you have used it…it can’t be used again.  Double uh-oh.

Thankfully, I had been given a gift certificate to Scrapbook.com for Christmas.  And because I loved this Winter Woods collection so much, I had purchased a few sheets for myself.  Also, the delivery came a week earlier than I had expected it.  So I had the papers in house to re-film the portion of the tutorial that didn’t record the first time.  Phew!

But then I was left with a duplicate page.  And that,  my friends, is how this sweet little wall hanging was born. I pulled things off, and glued more things on.  Then I stitched the revamped design onto a burlap panel and added a hanger.  How’s that for innovative thinking?

The Shaker Element

The main change was adding some gorgeous Really Reasonable Ribbon and this Reneabouquets Snowflake Shaker Box, flowers, tutu trim and printed beautiful board.

TIP: Create a frosted window in your shaker box with Dries Clear Adhesive and Glitter Glass.  It’s a little hard to see in the photo, but in real life, it shimmers just like snow!

TIP:  Nile Blue Crosshatch Satin Ribbon is a great color match for this paper collection.  I stitched it on at the top as a border, and I also layered it over White Satin Ribbon to form a fabric belly band.

I thought you might enjoy hearing how I got myself out of a paper fix.  Hope you enjoyed it!

I love that you shared your “oops” because they happen to everyone and you have shown there’s always a way to make it work! This wall hanging is beautiful and I really like all the texture and that you included a shaker even on a wall hanging. Quite creative! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing tomorrow’s project!

This paper collection surprised me with the inclusion of pastels…blues always seem to work for winter cards, but these other pastels are pushing me into new territory. Snowflake and snowman images can turn anything into winter!! Beautiful gift items from Renea!! Whenever I go to her site, I am suitably impressed by the number of butterflies I’m seeing! Definitely count me in on this drawing to celebrate 10 years of inspiration and teaching! And, once again, comes the realization that so-called mistakes are merely another opportunity to be creative! Beautiful project, Kathy!

How delightful and generous of Reneabouquets to provide this treat. I love the whimsy in your project and it’s funny I was using a SB snowman die to create some thank you notes when I took a break to view your days project and some hot cocoa! A perfect way to spend some time.Thank You and Reneabouquets!
