Snowflake Kisses Valentine Pocket Card with Sweetheart Ribbon Mix and Authentique Wintery
Hello, Ribbon Lovers! Is it snowing in your neck of the woods? We don’t get a whole lot of snow here in North Carolina, but I see a lot of my Facebook friends dealing with lots and lots of snowflakes! I never did much care for winter. It’s beautiful…but it is COLD! About the only way I like to experience winter any more is on paper. I’ve been having lots of fun with the new Authentique Wintery collection. It’s a great playmate for the RRR January Ribbon Club Sweetheart Mix. I had both on my work desk today, and came up with this whimsical Snowflake Kisses Valentine Pocket Card.
These are not exactly traditional Valentine’s Day colors, but I fell in love with the sentiment. I say this is a Valentine, but it would also make a great get well card, winter birthday card or thinking of you card.
So, I have a new ribbon crush to tell you about. Have you tried out the taffeta ribbon in the shop? Oooh-la-la! It ties the most beautiful crisp bows! I super love how the white ribbon brightens the composition of this card. The Sweetheart Mix was put into action on the belly band, too. Don’t you just love the Random Hearts and Confetti Dots Grosgrain layered over crocheted lace?
The ribbons in this assortment are sooo gorgeous you are going to want to use every little snippet of them. I cut fishtails on the ends of two tiny scraps of this Bold Diamond Red Satin ribbon and tucked them under my greeting. They don’t just look pretty; they actually draw the eye to the sentiment panel.
What’s In Your Pocket?
The inside of this card is soooo cute I can hardly stand it. What’s in the pocket? A packet of Lipton Cup-a-Soup, that’s what! How fun is that? I just couldn’t help myself, my friends. Having practically LIVED on this stuff when I was in college way back in the Dark Ages, I thought it would be perfect for this wintry card. What do you think?
Sending you lots and lots of wintry snowflake kisses!
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy
Wow, this is gorgeous…AND cute at the same time! The blue and white color combo, with those pops of red are beautiful and perfect for a wintery card. Love how you added the Cup-A-Soup inside. To tell the truth, I didn’t even know Lipton still made Cup-A-Soup, but now I want to buy a pack and send some winter warmth too. We don’t have snow here where i live either, so I settle for making snowy projects instead.
You did it again ! What does one expect with such yum papers…hugs
Oh that’s annoying, I’ve just done a long comment and page flipped over and deleted it. Technology is wonderful. I love the ribbons and how the small tags really do draw your attention to the detail. The image is adorable and love the pocket of treats. A soup sounds delicious. I hope we don’t get the snow, it looks great until you have to venture out. Unfortunately we often get the snow a few weeks after yourselves. At the moment in the UK the weather is very mixed, 4seasons in one day!. It’s cold and frosty one day, wet and windy another, we’ve had drizzle and fog and some sun at times. Take care whatever the weather throws at you. Hugsxx
How cool to put soup in this!!! What a treat…the card and the pressie! LOVE everything. Gorgeous work!
Yes, you have done it again my friend. Of course it would be Cup-a-Soup!!! What else, oh maybe hot chocolate. 🙂 Great idea!!! Love the card and all it’s embellishments. You do rock it out Kathy!
Hi Kathy, this absolutely beautiful. love the sentiment and the inside is perfect. It’s cold here but no snow, the sun is shinning. so a gorgeous day to stay inside create, or bake. thanks for sharing. love it.
the pocket is a great idea! I can see several occasions where an inside pocket could be used… great inspiration,Kathy!!
Thanks, Bonnie! I use pockets inside my cards for all sorts of things. It turns a card into an interactive experience, which is always fun.
Charming and love
the soup inside. We
could use it here!

How clever to have the packet of soup “inside”.
Very pretty Kathy. I like your non-traditional colors on your card. Thanks for sharing.
Love!
Love your card! And, yes, if it hadn’t been for Cup-a-Soup and ramen noodles, we would all have starved to death. 🙂
Thanks, Ann! And yes…what would we have done without Cup a Soup and Ramen…and don’t forget the peanut butter! LOL
This card is gorgeous! I did something similar with hot chocolate packs but NOT EVEN CLOSE to the detail of what you have created here! Yep I agree that this card definitely be used for several occasions. Actually, I can see a couple cards just from this one! Very inspiring
Thanks, CraftDee! I love using pockets inside my cards. Glad you were inspired!
Hi Kathy,
what a very super design, and I love your Valetines’s theme.
It’s quite unusual and so gorgeous.
The image of the couple is so sweet and very vintage, and the sentiment is soooooo! super.
We are lucky in my part of the UK we don’t get snow very often, but quite a few nasty frosts that turn everything white, and pretty looking, but I am not a fan of the cold weather either.
I think as you get older you worry about falling, and any probs that might bring.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Thanks, Jenny! It was fun using non-traditional colors to make this Valentine. We did get snow and ice…and it is COLD! Great weather for crafting! Hugs!
