Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: Amazing Paper Grace April Club Kit
Hello, Friends! This Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card is no April Fool’s Joke! It’s my project for the Amazing Paper Grace April Club Kit. Oh, the stories I could write with this super cute pink dimensional typewriter!
One of the things I love about the APG Club Kit is the versatility each one affords. This 3D Typewriter Vignette Die is designed to stand all on it’s own like a little shadowbox. But I chose to use it as the dimensional focal point on this pretty in pink card. I followed all the directions that come with the kit. But I did not add the tabs and side pieces to make it a stand alone item. Instead, I layered dimensionals between the typewriter layers and featured it on this 6″ x 6″ easel card. How cute would this be on your work desk?
Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: The Typewriter
Authentique’s Flawless collection seemed to be the perfect match up for this project. Here’s how I put the typewriter together:
- First, die cut (2) typewriter frames, and all the rest of the parts from black cardstock.
- Now run these pieces through a second time using the embossing plate and mat to add lots of texture and dimension.
- Next, die cut the pieces a second time using patterned papers from the Flawless 6″ x 6″ paper pad. Mix and match the papers for more fun.
- Then emboss these pieces as you did the black cardstock.
Piece the typewriter together following the directions that come with the dies. I alternated black and pink pieces to provide more contrast and visual interest. Add dimensionals between the layers to make the image pop off the page.
Now die cut the typewriter papers from patterned cardstock. Cut an additional paper from black to mat the paper that is at the back. This helps it to pop off the page. Layer dimensionals between the pages for extra dimension. Place a dot of Glossy Accents on each of the keys for even more dimension.
Finally, die cut the sentiments from hot pink cardstock. Cut them out and adhere over the patterned papers. Layer the papers at an angle inside the “roller” . Then add flowers and butterfly to finish the design.
Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: The Stopper
First, cover the inside of your card base with designer paper. Create a pocket on the bottom of the card by adhering 3 sides of a 6″ x 2 1/2″ panel of designer paper to the card base. You’ll see how this works below.
Cut a fishtail banner from the black damask print in Flawless. Back it with dimensionals and adhere to the lower inside card panel. This will be the base for the brake, or stopper, on this easel card. Cut out two small sentiment cards from the paper collection. Mat on both hot pink and black cardstock scraps. Arrange at an angle and place dimensionals between and on the back side. Then adhere to the card base. Add a little paper clip, some pretty pink posies, ribbon and a button.
Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: A Peek Inside
Now you can see the cute pocket inside the card. Create a little gift card wallet with a sentiment panel from the 12×12 collection. Adhere a little chocolate treat with repositionable Glue Dots.

that is the prettiest typewriter I have ever seen!
Whoever invented easel cards gets my vote of approval! I LOVE creating easel cards…love figuring out what can be elevated to made into multi-layers to provide the stopper element. Lovely card! So bright and cheerful!
Were you as surprised as I when seeing this die from Becca? I am so used to expecting those fanciful, inventive and beautiful swirly dies, like March’s APG die of the month. Don’t get me wrong I will enjoy this one when it comes – but it certainly seems this is outside the box for her. What a lovely way you employed it using girlish patterns, colors and embellishments galore! Loved that you put that girlish touch on the carriage return and body. (By the way, now I crave that chocolate treat and I will add it to my shopping list – whenever we get to go again!)
This typewriter die is delightful…using it with the Flawless paper collection is a great combination with your embellishments and sentiment…pink is always a girl thing, right? When I was very young, I actually found a typewriter like this tucked away in my grandmother’s house. It used spools of inked ribbon…what a fond memory. tfs-Hugs.
WOW!!! This super creative card is so cute – love all the details and the black/pink really pops!!!!
Your cards are so beautifully done Kathy. I’m in awe as to all the dimension you give each and every card you create. You are a very talented lady. TYFS
Kathy, what a super cute card! I am crazy about black and pink colors together. And I love the sentiments. We all can get by with a little help from our friends for sure! I remember my great Aunt had an ancient typewriter like that and used it all the time which amazed me. Your ribbons and flowers are beautiful with those pretty Authentique papers. Thank you for sharing! Hugs!
