Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace April 2020 Die of the Month Vignette Typewriter by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Spellbinders April 2020 Club Kits Blog Hop: APG 3D Vintage Vignette Typewriter Birthday Card

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Spellbinders April 2020 Club Kits Blog Hop.  You should be coming here from BIBI’S  blog.  If so , you are right on track.  You can find a complete blog hop list at the bottom of this post.    Today, I’m sharing another adorable Amazing Paper Grace Vintage Vignette Typewriter card.  If you missed the cute pink and black typewriter card that I shared earlier this month, you can find that HERE.

I love a snarky greeting on a  birthday card, don’t you?  So I paired this adorable 3D Vintage Vignette Typewriter Die up with Authentique Paper’s Party Paper Collection.  Insert a 3″ x 4″ sentiment card from the collection in the typewriter “roller”.  Then use the die from the kit to cut extra designer paper “pages”.  Place dimensionals between these layers for even more depth and dimension.  Finally, create a banner with stickers from the Party collection kit.

Die cut the pieces of the 3D Vintage Vignette Typewriter from foil cardstock and patterned papers as I did here.  To add extra depth and detail, run the die cuts through a second time using the embossing plate and mat.  Then  assemble the pieces with dimensionals between the layers. As a final touch, place a small dab of Ranger Black Enamel Dots on each key for extra shine and dimension.

APG 3D Vintage Vignette Typewriter Birthday Card: A Peek Inside

Turn the card into a sweet little gift by adding pockets on the inside.  First, tuck in a little chocolate and a blank sentiment card on the bottom.  Then create a gift card wallet and tuck into a second pocket on the top half of the card.

Such a great snarky sentiment!

Lol, the fun sentiment inside makes this card do double duty. It’s gorgeous and humorous at the same time, my favorite combo. I love the colors you used and that typewriter die is a real stand out.

Ah, Kathy! Today was my day to catch up on Kathy By Design posts in my inbox, and this just happened to be the first! Now it looks as if I will have a busy day (or five) to play along in this blog hop. No money for new crafty items, so it would be fun to win! How generous!

As for your card, I just love the design and that fabulously put together typewriter! It must have taken ages to do all those keys! Having the snarky birthday sentiment rolling off the roller is so clever and the checked ribbon is the perfect compliment/embellishment as are the flowers. I particularly love the snarky sentiment card in the pocket within (and the chocolate). I hope you’re having a great day! Much love!

Your cards are always just exquisite and the combination of those vintage papers with the typewriter die make for such a beautiful card. The front is already fabulous but the humorous sentiment and chocolate inside make this a gift in itself.

  15. ANN L ROBBINS

My little typewriter arrived this week. Been cleaning and destashing my craft studio so haven’t had a chance to play!!

  16. Ddmac58

First I want to express my appreciation for your excellent designs, enthusiastic approach to teaching us how to accomplish each project and for generously sharing your sources! And yes, snarky is so great! I was overjoyed to see the return of this die in todays project. It reminds me of my Aunt’s Royal typewriter she left me. Still works! Who doesn’t love a beautiful Mother’s Day card and such beautiful feminine touch you’ve added – very inspiring. Any Mom would smile ear–to–ear when she received this card!

  18. Gena L Krannig

What a cute, fun card, Kathy! The 3-D effects with the sentiment cards in the roller is really cool!. The ribbons and flowers are such a great match and I really like the way you have layered the different papers. Your paper combinations always look so perfect! Thank you for sharing! Hugs!

  23. Karen Hale

Kathy, your card is so AWESOME!! Just adore that typewriter. Such a creative way to show it off.

  24. Barbara Matthews

Hi, I learned to type on a manual typewriter, oh my. Then came the electric typewriter and then computers. Do I miss the old manual? No, especially with a mistake, had to correct the original and all the carbon copies, ugh. This die is so cute though, i love it, and no mistakes typing, lol.

    1. kathycNC Post author

Yup! Me, too, Barbara! Give me a keyboard any day! But I do think learning to type on a manual made you pay more attention to proper posture and hand position and all the rest. My husband picked up a manual recently and I tried it out. Hard work! And yes…this die is super cute!

Adorable, beautiful card with all those “cute” sentiments!!! I just don’t know if I can live without that typewriter die! I used to have a real one just like it …so wish I’d of kept it!!! Luv theses Authentique papers! Thanks for sharing another great card design Kathy! Hugs, Suzy Q

Thank you, Fiona! Yes, this die has a lot of little pieces. But it’s not that hard to put together once you get the hang of it!

  28. CHERYL WELLS

Gorgeous card and that typewriter sure brings back lots of memories using them at work – then came the computers – but I still have a soft spot for the typewriter!! Great work Kathy!!
