Baby Boy Blue Card Folio

Stamperia Baby Boy Blue Card Folio with Little Birdie Flowers

Hello, Friends!  Happy Saturday!  I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Christmas holiday.  Santa brought me some new Stamperia paper collections, and some new Little Birdie Flowers. I decided to put them together to  create an adorable Stamperia Baby Boy Blue Card Folio.

Don’t these papers and flowers go together perfectly?  This is a standard 5″ x 7″ card folio with a 1/2″ spine.

Baby Boy Blue Card Folio: Shake it up, baby!

This shaker card element is made a little differently from my usual procedure.  Instead of building a shaker box with foam tape, I did the following:

  • First, die cut the image from the designer paper using a Heartfelt Creations Eyelet Oval and Basics Large Die.
  • Next, use the same die to cut some clear acrylic cardstock.
  • Now, stitch these two pieces together, leaving about a 2″ gap at the top of the oval.
  • Remove the oval from your sewing machine and add Lilac Lane Shades of Chambray Shaker Mix through the opening.  (Remove the larger buttons and beads from the mix first.)  I used my funnel tray to make the job easier. Don’t overfill!
  • Now replace the shaker element on your sewing machine, line up the needle with the previously stitched holes and finish stitching the shaker element closed.
  • Place 2 layers of waste chipboard on the back of the shaker element and adhere to the card base. I added hot glue carefully around the edges and pressed them down to seal to the paper.  This created the “domed” appearance you see in the photo.
Baby Boy Blue Card Folio: A Peek Inside

The inside of the card houses a nifty 4 1/4″ square accordion album.  I have tutorials for this style of folio on my YouTube channel.

A simple ribbon tie closure keeps everything secure.

Cute, right?

I’ve lined the interior with the same two patterns to keep everything consistent.

And of course, I worked in some little tuck spots and pockets.

Baby Boy Blue Card Folio:  Pocket and Gift Card Wallet

The large pocket on the bottom is decorated with a stamped sentiment, a fussy cut image and a strip of scrap paper.  I used the same oval dies to cut the shaped pocket.

This little gift card wallet is snap to make.  It’s actually one of the 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ ephemera cards scored in half.  I simply added a fussy cut circle and a decorative button to finish it off.

Inside, I added a stamped sentiment and a little pocket for the gift card.

Exciting News!

Before I sign off, I wanted to tell you some exciting news!  I know many of you have been frustrated by how difficult it has been to obtain Little Birdie Flowers.  Well, Little Birdie Flowers are now available in 140 A.C. Moore Craft Stores in the US!  Isn’t that great?  You can use THIS MAP to find the A. C. Moore closest to you.

Little Birdie was kind enough to send me a sample package of the flowers that will be available at A.C. Moore.  So I put together a quick video tour for you.

I’m hoping that with time, A. C. Moore will decide to carry Little Birdie Flowers in their online stores as well.  Maybe if we all let them know how much we want to be able to purchase them online, they will!

So that’s it for me today.  I hope I shared some tips, techniques and ideas to inspire your creativity.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,

kathy

Well, you certainly must have been on Santa’s NICE list to receive such wonderful crafty goodies! This baby boy card is a TREASURE! I love how you’ve made your domed shaker element (thanks for the step by step!) and the gorgeous florals and sweet embellishments that surround it. As always you create such special touches within the folio–so sweet and a fine way to close out the year! Happy New Year to you! Hugs!

Hi Kathy this card is just so adorable. The colours are beautiful, the images are devine and so heart melting. Great idea for the shaker element too. Best wishes for new year 2019 xx

Kathy, this card is (as your sentiment says) adorable. The paper set is delightful–what you’ve done with it throughout the folio is so lovely. Your flower cluster with the beaded work and cute little stork on the card front is amazing. I can see this card being framed and hung in the nursery. Remember those little alphabet beads from which persons would make a little bracelet with a baby’s name? I can just see a string of those woven into that cluster to add a personalized touch. This project is a great way to say farewell to 2018 and welcome 2019. tfs and Happy New Year!

Do you know when AC Moore will start carrying them Kathy? They don’t show up in the search on their site yet, so I don’t want to make a wasted trip to the only store an hour away. Can’t wait until they do though!
