Stamperia Classic Christmas Fun Fold Cards                                                Ghost of Christmas Past Project Share and Mini Tutorial

Hello, Friends! Are you ready for another Ghost of Christmas Past Project Share and Mini Tutorial featuring Stamperia Classic Christmas Fun Fold Cards?  Traditional colors and vintage images have long made this 2021 collection a favorite in my studio.  I’ve made dozens of cards with these festive papers, and I enjoyed making these two as well.

Would you like to learn how to create a faux wood shaker frame using standard cutting dies from your stash?  Well. you are in luck, because that is our mini tutorial for today’s episode.

Sweet Christmas Bird Gatefold Pop Out Card

Our first card is this darling Christmas Bird nestled in a circular frame.  Here are some quick and easy tips for putting this card front together.

  • First, paint an empty cardboard tape reel with white paint.
  • Next, adhere the frame over a portion of a 4×6 journal card.
  • Now, add some Buttons Galore and More goodies , handmade poinsettias and bows to dress up the frame.
  • Embellish with more buttons and a small tag.

You’ve just elevated the design of what is a very simple card front.

Gatefold Pop Out Element

Design a gatefold cover for the inside of the card.  Then mat your image on layers of cardstock and gold foil paper for a little  holiday sparkle.  Remember to only glue down the left hand side of your image, or you won’t be able to open the gate!

To create the gatefold portion of this card follow these simple steps:

  • First, cut a 10″ x 6 7/8″ panel of patterned paper.
  • Now score 2 1/2″ flaps on the right and left hand sides.  Fold to form the gates.
  • Place magnets on the right hand gate and on the back side of the front image to keep the gates closed.  You can cover up the magnet on the back side with a panel  of designer paper.

Surprise!  Add 4 small pop out panels to the interior of the gatefold.  If you’ve never made a pop out box before, you can find a tutorial HERE.

O Christmas Tree Shaker Card with a Pull Down/Pop Up Flap

Christmas is the perfect time to make a shaker card!  (Well, isn’t any time the perfect time to make a shaker card?)  You can make a custom frame for your card using rectangular nesting dies.  It’s super easy, and I’ll show you how in the video tutorial.

Y’all know I just love a good pop up element, so I added a fun pull down flap to the top of this card.  Spoiler alert:  There’s a pop up scene behind it!

How sweet is this darling little baker?  If you’ve never made a pop up scene like this before, you can find a tutorial HERE.

Oh the pop ups are delightful, and there is nothing like Christmas baking with the aromas drifting through the house, all those lovely spices! Thanks again Kathy for all your sharing. We are away catching up with friends and when back home this weekend it will be head down creating Christmas cards. The year is slipping away.

These cards are simply delightful, my dear Kathy! What a wonderful surprise behind the gate door of the bird card and then the sweet little girl baking cookies in the Christmas tree card. I hope I get time to make cards similar to these.
    Big hugs, my sweet friend!

I am definitely enjoying your Ghosts of Christmas Past projects! These cards are beautiful and thank you so much for the tutorial on making the shaker frame. Also what a good idea to use the tape cardboard for an accent on the front!
