Stamperia Nutcracker Christmas Banner Tutorial with Reneabouquets for Wonderful Wednesday
Hello, Friends! Our Wonderful Wednesday this week is a gorgeous Stamperia Nutcracker Christmas Banner Tutorial. Filled to the brim with elegant patterned papers & images, altered chipboard and holiday flowers, this banner shimmers with Christmas nostalgia.
The Nutcracker Ballet is a big tradition in our area, and it probably is a feature where you live, too. It’s such a delightful tale with it’s Rat King, Sugar Plum Fairies, Dancing Snowflakes and brave Nutcracker! I just had to feature it in this month’s great big (almost 4 feet from pennant to pennant) banner.
Die cut your pennants with Spellbinders Scalloped Tags and Labels dies for a quick and easy start. The graduated dies allow you to cut paper layers that stack together nicely.
The Shaker Window
No Nutcracker banner could be complete without Clara, the heroine of the story. So I featured her on this delicate snowflake frame from Reneabouquets. To turn the frame into a shaker window, follow these easy steps:
- First, heat emboss the frame with Versamark Ink and WOW Clear Sparkle embossing powder.
- Next, die cut an acetate circle to fit the back of the frame and adhere with Dries Clear Adhesive.
- Then, place 3 layers of 1/8″ foam tape around the inner circle of the frame.
- Now add Reneabouquets flat back pearls to the front of the frame.
- Place your shaker mix on the pennant, and carefully press the foam tape to create a secure seal.
- Attach the ballerina image with foam tape and embellish with handmade flowers and string bows.
Embellishment Tips
Embellishments really make a banner come to life. Here are a few helpful ideas and tips:
- Heat emboss Reneabouquets snowflakes and adhere between the pennants, on the pennants and in the floral cluster.
- Machine stitch the pennants to the ribbon/trim on both the top edge and along the bottom edge of the ribbon. This helps the banner lay flat.
- Tuck in painted mini pine cones, painted jingle bells, flower stamens and faux greenery to make the banner really festive.

Kathy you have created the most wonderful piece of Christmas tradition. The hint of glitter with the layers, and the beautiful details on the shaker tag, it is oh so beautiful! The montage style works so well with banners and you have mastered it. Hopefully in the coming week it will cool down enough to continue with Christmas projects. Sewing cushion cover bases for the outdoor area is dominating time at the moment. Mind you, the cards get the sewing treatment as the machine is nearby right now!
I hope you continue to enjoy the wee grandie, before you know it he will be sitting up and watching family gatherings this season. Just think, next year he will be chewing his grandmothers paper stash, he he……..
Beautiful banner! I love the color palette!!
