Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday Card with Graphic 45 Times Nouveau
Hello,, Ribbon Lovers! August is birthday month in our family. We celebrate FIVE birthdays this month,! Two of those birthdays are for our sons. Our eldest son was truly the Leader of the Pack for our 5 children He always had some grand plan in store for his siblings. Sometimes it was building an Olympic Village in our backyard. At others, it was building a set for a play. Or constructing an elaborate Lego village. Whatever idea he had, they followed along with great expectation and enthusiasm. He was our “Ideas Man.” So in honor of his birthday, I created this funky Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday card.
Isn’t it playful? I used the monochromatic papers from Graphic 45’s Times Nouveau Classic Collection. Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Gears texture Sheet, and a Steampunk Gentleman add to the fun factor. And of course, I tied it all together with fabulous Really Reasonable Ribbon.
These bold green ribbons are from the Autumn Colors Ribbon Club Assortment. I love the way they echo the colors and designs in the papers. To make my border, I layered two strips of Kiwi Green Diamond Satin on the left hand side of the card. Then I placed a strip of Kiwi Green Square in Square Print Satin between the two. This created a sort of tiered border.
Natural Burlap String makes a great masculine bow. I brightened it up with a scrap of the same Kiwi green ribbon and a custom button. To make the button, glue one of the images from the Times Nouveau punch out sheet in the center of a wood button. Custom embellishments like this add so much to your design.
A Look Inside The Steampunk Ideas Man Birthday Card
A stamped sentiment, a fun pocket and a little tag make the inside of the card almost as much fun as the outside.
There’s plenty of room to tuck in a gift card or cash gift. I want to add a personal note to the card, so I’ve lined the back side of the tag with ivory paper.
I hope you found some inspiration here today. Making masculine cards is something I truly enjoy. This is one of my faves for its whimsical design and playful nature. I’d love to hear what you think in the comment section below.
Thanks for stopping by!

This is a super fun card in a really cool green color! The inside is as clever as the outside and all the goodies make it extra special. Thanks for the inspiration, Kathy!

Sorry I’ve been missing. Man oh man is this card awesome! All those gears, the green, the sentiment, the brainiac man…all fabulous, and of course love the guts! You make the most gorgeous cards!
This card, and especially your comments about your son, conjured up memories for me! My son just had an older sister that he couldn’t very well control so he rounded up the little neighborhood kids and started a club (which they COULD NOT TELL THEIR PARENTS ABOUT!–we found this set of rules long after the club had been dissolved!) He had a track in our yard for bicycle races and who knows what else. Thanks for the memories and the card, Kathy!
Lego is a love shared by many. I enjoy seeing the creations that some people have made to life size in these competitions.
Great card Kathy and love the colour.
