Craft Hoarders Anonymous February Challenge: Sweet Sentiments Love Book
Hello, Friends!
It’s time for the February Challenge over at the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog! Since February is “love month” the challenge this time around is How I Love Thee!
You may create a Valentine, anniversary, wedding or other love-themed project for this challenge. You may create something that has the word “LOVE” on it. Dig into your hoard and find all those hoarded hearts and pink sequins and doves and wedding paper that you have been saving for just the right project.
Well, I had purchased Graphic 45’s Sweet Sentiments last year…and never touched it. So I dug it out of my stash along with the new A Time to Flourish papers and created this Sweet Sentiments Mini Album.
I foolishly cut and designed all the pages before figuring out how to bind this all together, but my idea was always to create a book that flipped up from the bottom as opposed to opening from the side. Let’s peek inside!
My pages measure 6 1/4″ x 4 1/4 inches and the base is Canvas Corp 80# Kraft Cardstock. It’s the perfect weight for mini books like this one. The first page has a double pocket….one on the side with a tag inserted, and I built a mini file folder that holds hugs and kisses tickets, too! All my flowers are from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I used dies, embellies and other goodies from my stash.
I just love the kraft doilies that I cut wit a die from My Favorite Things. They give a project an instant vintage feel, as does this sweet bow made with brown micro gingham.
The pocket is on the side here…and the postcard has plenty of room for you to write a mushy love note, or mount a photo. The tags are all written in my own hand.
This is one of my favorite “love” sayings!
Throughout the book, I alternated a pocket page with a pretty “look at me” page. I had no idea I had so many romantic embellies in my stash!
Here’s another pocket page with tags, buttons, heart shaped keys and a heart shaped wooden keyhole.
And a peeky at the tags! More mushy lovey-dovey stuff! LOL
I have been hoarding that wooden heart and butterfly medallion for an embarrassingly long time. I like that I finally used it.
Another sweet pocket with tags. I actually cut my paper for these pocket pages to 7 3/4″ inches, then scored at 1 1/2″ and glued the edges down to form a quick, easy pocket. Just in case you were wondering…
I painted all the little silver hearts with Tattered Rose Distress Paint. And I die cut some pink doilies, too. Because I like them!
This pocket has stamped tags…One says “Love you all the time” and the other says, “We go together perfectly, everywhere.”
And this is the last page…I love the little pocket watch and heart pins that I tucked in here.
To bind the album, I used a huge binding ring that I painted with Tattered Rose Distress Paint. The ribbons are all from Really Reasonable Ribbon and if you see one that you want to know the name of, ask me in the comment section and I’ll send you the link.
Now, here are the links for the rest of the team, so you can go and get inspired.
