Spellbinders Simon Hurley Beautiful Blooms Valentines Tutorial with 3D Embossing Folder
Hello, Friends! Today I’m sharing a Simon Hurley Beautiful Blooms Valentines Tutorial. We’re going to have such a fun crafty adventure with these Spellbinders stamps, dies and 3D Embossing Folder. We’ll also pull out some pretty Photoplay papers from the Closet of Inspiration of Delight. So grab your mixed media boots out of the closet, brew a cuppa and let’s make a whole stack of sweet Valentine’s Day cards together!
Two Hearts as One 3D Embossing Folder
First, we’ll create some lovely mixed media backgrounds using the Two Hearts as One 3D Embossing Folder. You’re going to get to play with paint, inks and sprays, stamps and dies today as well as some other nifty products.
I’m especially fond of this particular embossing folder because it allows you to create two A2 card fronts at the same time.
Beautiful Blooms Zinnias and Ladybugs
Once we have our embossed backgrounds made, we’ll go to work on stamping and coloring the lovely floral images from the Beautiful Blooms Stamp and Die Bundle. Stamp 3 sets of zinnias with Distress Oxide Inks, then use a water brush to spread out the color, It’s such an easy way to color an image. The sentiments on each card are also from the Beautiful Blooms bundle.
Lilies of the Field
This card features the lilies stamp. First, I inked up my stamp with 2 shades of Distress Oxide Ink. Then I colored in the petals with an ink dauber and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. Finally, i added the little dots with the end of a watercolor pencil.
Pretty Pink Posies
This cheery little card features the poppy stamp (at least I think these are poppies!) Once again, first I inked up my stems and leaves with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide. Then I inked the petals with Picked Raspberry DO Ink. Next I die cut the stamped images and spritzed them very lightly with a little water. This caused the ink to “bleed” just a little and create a water color effect in the center of each flower. Now you are ready to layer the stems with foam tape and add a sentiment. You gotta love such quick and easy cardmaking!
Mixed Media Metallic Heart
I saved my favorite card for last. We’ll create this card together in the video tutorial below. It’s surprisingly easy to make, but really packs a lovely visual punch.
